OceanUniversity of China(OUC) is a comprehensive university under the direct administration of the State Ministry of Education，which offers courses in Science，Engineering，Agronomy(Fisheries)，Economics，Liberal Arts，Pharmaceutics，Management, Law, Education and History，etc. This university is especially renowned for its disciplines in Oceanography and Fisheries and has been approved as one of the universities with“Project 211”and“Project 985”for intensive construction of their key disciplines.

中國海洋大學(xué)是一所以海洋和水產(chǎn)學(xué)科為特色，包括理學(xué)、工學(xué)、農(nóng)(水產(chǎn))學(xué)、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、文學(xué)、醫(yī)(藥)學(xué)、管理學(xué)、法學(xué)、教育學(xué)和歷史學(xué)等學(xué)科門類較為齊全的教育部直屬重點綜合性大學(xué)，是國家“985工程”和“211工程”重點建設(shè)高校之一。

The University，located in Qirigdao of Shandong Province，consists of three campuses and occupies an area of 200 hectares with a total classroom and office space of 940 000 square meters.

學(xué)校位于山東省青島市，轄三個校區(qū)，占地200公頃，教師及辦公室等建筑面積94萬平方米。

The University has 22 faculties and colleges(schools ).As one of the first universities approved to confer degrees at all levels and also approved by the State Academic Degree Committee to entitle Ph. D. supervisors，OUC now provides 6 firstcategory disciplines for Ph. D. degrees，44 doctorate programs，16 first-category disciplines for master's degrees，131 programs for master's degrees，one MBA，one MPA and master's degrees in 13 areas of specialized engineering. The University owns 5 national key disciplines，one National Research Center for Marine Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology，one UNESCO Chinese Center of Marine Biotechnology，6 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education，9 provincial level key disciplines and 6 provincial level key laboratories. In addition，there are 8 disciplines which provide professorship of“Cheung Kong Scholars Programs”.OUC was the first university approved by the State as the bases for fundamental research and teaching staff training in Oceanography，Marine Chemistry and Life Science& Technology.

中國海洋大學(xué)設(shè)有22個學(xué)部及院(系)，是國務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會首批批準(zhǔn)的具有博士、碩士、學(xué)士學(xué)位授予權(quán)的單位。目前，學(xué)校已擁有6個博士學(xué)位授權(quán)一級學(xué)科、44個博士學(xué)位授權(quán)點、16個碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)一級學(xué)科、131個碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點、一個工商管理碩士(MBA)專業(yè)學(xué)位授權(quán)點、一個公共管理碩士(MPA)專業(yè)學(xué)位授權(quán)點、13個領(lǐng)域具有專業(yè)工程碩士學(xué)位授予權(quán)，擁有5個國家級重點學(xué)科，一個國家海洋藥物工程技術(shù)研究中心，一個聯(lián)合國教科文組織中國海洋生物工程中心，6個教育部重點實驗室，9個省級重點學(xué)科和6個省級重點實驗室。此外，8個學(xué)科設(shè)有“長江學(xué)者獎勵計劃”特聘教授崗位，擁有兩個國家基礎(chǔ)科學(xué)研究和教學(xué)人才培養(yǎng)基地—海洋學(xué)、海洋化學(xué)和一個國家生命科學(xué)與技術(shù)人才培養(yǎng)基地。

The University has over 21 000 registered students，including 5 000 doctoral or master's degree students，over 10 200 undergraduates and 1 200 international students.

OUC has currently a total number of more than 2 300 faculty members and administrative staffs members. Among them there are 8 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering，10 recipients of National Outstanding Youth Foundation，9 young and middle-age experts with outstanding contributions at the national level，8 specially-invited and lecture professors of "Cheungkong Scholars Program”，more than 20 teachers selected by national "Millions of Talents Program"，97 experts enjoying government special allowance and more than 200 Ph. D. supervisors

學(xué)校現(xiàn)有教職工2 300人，包括8名院士(其中雙聘院士3名),10名國家杰出青年基金獲得者、9名國家有突出貢獻(xiàn)中青年專家、8名教育部“長江學(xué)者獎勵計劃”特聘教授和講座教授、20余名“百千萬人才工程”高層次人才計劃人選者、97名國務(wù)院政府特殊津貼享受者、200余名博士生導(dǎo)師。

The University boasts an advanced laboratory center, which has over 70 laboratories for teaching and experiments，occupies a total area of 10 000 square meters. There is also“Dong Fang Hong 2"，a research vessel with a displacement of 3 500 tons. The ship can be used for both teaching and scientific research. The University Library has established an international comprehensive data base of foreign languages in marine science and fisheries，which has become a national document-searching and information center of marine science.

學(xué)校擁有先進(jìn)的試驗中心，包含70余個教學(xué)與科研相結(jié)合、具有不同專業(yè)特色的實驗室，面積達(dá)一萬平方米。擁有供教學(xué)、科研使用的3 500噸級海洋綜合調(diào)查船—東方紅2號。學(xué)校圖書館已建成國際上較為全面的海洋、水產(chǎn)學(xué)科外文數(shù)據(jù)庫，成為全國海洋科學(xué)文獻(xiàn)檢索和信息資料中心。

1924 Private Qingdao University，the predecessor of OUC，was founded.

1959 It was renamed Shandong College of Oceanography.

1988 It was renamed Ocean University of Qingdao.

2002 It was renamed Ocean University of China.
