A:Professor Zhang, recently I am working on a paper about immigration. I ran across some difficulties in my paper. Could you help me out?

A:Thank you do much. That's very kind of you. There is a chapter in my paper about the right of residency a foreigner has in another country. Could you give some information about it?

B: No problem. In accordance with the laws in the host country and abtain long-term, short term or permanent residency.

沒問題。根據(jù)所在國的法律和有關(guān)的國際條約或協(xié)定，可以在該國短期、長期或永久居留。

A: Amazing. Does it mean that any foreigner can obtain residency?

真是不可思議。這是不是說任何一個(gè)外國入境者都有居留權(quán)？

B: Not exactly. Foreigners who can not obtain long term residency before he or she asks for and gets permission.

不完全是這樣的。外國人未經(jīng)請(qǐng)求并獲得許可不能在一國領(lǐng)土內(nèi)長期居留。

A: So, if a foreigner wants to obtain long term residency in another country, he or she has to apply for it first and then wait for permission.

因此，假如外國公民想獲得長期居留權(quán)就必須先申請(qǐng)然后再等候被批準(zhǔn)。

B: You are perfectly right.

你說的完全正確。

A: Are there any regulations and rules for foreigners to obey if they obtain residency in another country?

當(dāng)外國人所在國取得居留權(quán)后有什么要遵守的規(guī)章制度嗎？

B: Of course there are. The obligations and rights of a foreigner are stipulated by the host country while he or she is in the period of residency. Foreigners ought to obey the laws and regulations of the host country.

當(dāng)然有。外國人在居留期間的權(quán)利和義務(wù)有居住國的法律規(guī)定。外國人應(yīng)遵守居住過的法律。

A: So, these are the obligations foreigners must obey, right?

那么這些就是外國人要遵守的規(guī)章制度了，對(duì)嗎？

B: Yes. And at the same time the host country is responsible for protecting the lawful rights and interests of them.

是的，不過與此同時(shí)，居住國對(duì)外國人的合法權(quán)益應(yīng)予以保護(hù)。
