A: So, Katia, you were talking about how you had an internship and you actually made the transition from university to the working world and internship and now you've actually gone back to the university world. What struck you as the biggest difference having to go to the real world, the working world from university?
 
卡蒂亞，之前你談了你的實(shí)習(xí)工作，實(shí)際上實(shí)習(xí)時(shí)你是從大學(xué)生活過(guò)渡到了工作社會(huì)，而現(xiàn)在你又回到了大學(xué)生活。你認(rèn)為大學(xué)和工作環(huán)境最大的不同是什么？
 
B: Well the biggest difference and something that I felt right away was the responsibility that you have when you're working for somebody else. When you're a student you're really, you're only responsible for yourself and making the deadlines and doing the work but other than that nobody else is dependent on you and when you are working there are people depending on you so the responsibility part was the biggest difference.
 
我馬上感覺(jué)到的最大不同是，在工作時(shí)要對(duì)其他人負(fù)責(zé)。作為學(xué)生只要對(duì)自己負(fù)責(zé)就行了，設(shè)置截止時(shí)間，完成任務(wù)，除此之外沒(méi)有人依靠你，可是在工作時(shí)，其他人的工作需要你的工作去支持，所以責(zé)任方面是最大的不同。
 
A: In terms of having to do work, where there any different skill sets that you found that you really needed in the working world that you didn't get at university?
 
在工作方面，你認(rèn)為有哪些技能是工作領(lǐng)域中需要，而在大學(xué)中學(xué)不到的？
 
B: I think when you're a student in the university, you see so many theoretical work that you really do not know how that can be used in real life. When you go to work and you start doing things, you get to understand a little bit more why you're doing what you're doing and it's not so much theoretical.
 
在大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)時(shí)，可能有很多理論研究你不知道要如何應(yīng)用在現(xiàn)實(shí)生活中。而當(dāng)你去工作時(shí)你會(huì)漸漸明白為什么你要學(xué)習(xí)這些知識(shí)，為什么要這樣做，而且你會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)其實(shí)那些知識(shí)并不只是理論上的。
 
A: Was there anything that you thought you maybe lacked that you wish you had prepared yourself more at university, for example computer skills or writing skills or anything like that?
 
你認(rèn)為你在哪方面有所欠缺，或是你希望在大學(xué)里學(xué)習(xí)的，比如電腦技能或是寫(xiě)作技能還是其他的技能？
 
B: I think presenting skills. Presenting skills and also technical words that I needed, like I wasn't prepared for that.
 
我認(rèn)為是表達(dá)能力。表達(dá)能力和專業(yè)詞匯都是我需要的，可是我并沒(méi)有在這些方面進(jìn)行準(zhǔn)備。
 
A: Can you give an example of some technical words?
 
你能舉例說(shuō)一些專業(yè)詞匯嗎？
 
B: For example, well I learned technical words in English for example like jurisdiction but I didn't know how to say it that in Spanish even though that's my native language but it is a technical word so that conversion I wasn't ready for that but eventually it was and everything came out all right.
 
我學(xué)過(guò)管轄權(quán)等專業(yè)詞匯的英語(yǔ)說(shuō)法，可是我不知道用西班牙語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)，雖然西班牙語(yǔ)是我的母語(yǔ)，可是由于這是專業(yè)術(shù)語(yǔ)，所以這種語(yǔ)言上的轉(zhuǎn)換我還沒(méi)有準(zhǔn)備好，不過(guò)最后一切都可以解決。
 
A: Yes, so I guess one big change is in university, you might have mistakes when you write but you maybe don't worry about that so much but in the professional world it has to be perfect, right?
 
嗯，我想最大的不同是，在大學(xué)里你在寫(xiě)作時(shí)可能會(huì)犯錯(cuò)，不過(guò)你不用太擔(dān)心，可是在工作中，一切都要力求完美，對(duì)吧？
 
B: You really don't want to make mistakes because that can, that will lead to less trust from you so really having mistakes is not, it reflects how much you can do or cannot do.
 
真的不想犯錯(cuò)，因?yàn)檫@可能會(huì)導(dǎo)致你的信任度降低，所以犯錯(cuò)會(huì)對(duì)你能做多少工作產(chǎn)生影響。
 
A: Right. And so now you're actually back. You're back in a graduate degree so you've come back to the university. Which world do you prefer?
 
好。現(xiàn)在你已經(jīng)回歸校園生活了。你回到大學(xué)繼續(xù)念碩士研究生。學(xué)習(xí)和工作你更喜歡哪個(gè)？
 
B: I prefer the working world. I like being a student of course and it's quite relaxing and it's very nice because all you do is learn and do work and meet deadlines but I think I preferred the working world when you really have the real responsibility, you really know how things work but of course I'm enjoying my student life as well.
 
我喜歡工作環(huán)境。當(dāng)然我也喜歡學(xué)生時(shí)期，因?yàn)閷W(xué)生時(shí)期可以很放松，感覺(jué)非常好，你要做的就是學(xué)習(xí)、按規(guī)定時(shí)間完成任務(wù)，不過(guò)我更喜歡工作環(huán)境，那時(shí)能體會(huì)到真正的責(zé)任感，知道要如何處理事情，不過(guò)我也很享受我的學(xué)生時(shí)代。
 
A: So for students that are just finishing school or will finish school soon, they often have a lot of anxiety and worry about, you know, how they will make it in the real world and will they survive in the real world. What advice or tips would you give them?
 
那些已經(jīng)畢業(yè)或是即將完成學(xué)業(yè)的人，通常都會(huì)很焦慮，對(duì)現(xiàn)實(shí)工作環(huán)境感到擔(dān)心，不確定自己能否在工作環(huán)境中生存下去。你有沒(méi)有什么建議？
 
B: I don't think they should worry that much and really enjoy the experience of the transition. Nothing bad will happen regardless so there's really no reason, it doesn't help to worry so just really the only suggestion I would give is just try your best and try to find the things that you really want to do.
 
我認(rèn)為他們不應(yīng)該過(guò)于擔(dān)心，而是應(yīng)該享受這種過(guò)渡的經(jīng)歷。不管怎樣都不會(huì)發(fā)生什么不好的事情，沒(méi)有什么理由，擔(dān)心也沒(méi)有什么用，我唯一能給的建議就是盡你最大的努力去尋找你真正喜歡的事情。
