1. muscle tone: 肌肉張力。

2. in tune: 和諧，協(xié)調(diào)。

例如： The curtain is not in tune with the atmosphere of the room.（窗簾同房間的氣氛不協(xié)調(diào)。）

此外，in tune還可以表示唱歌不走調(diào)， 例如：You're not singing in tune.（你唱走調(diào)了。）

3. video log: 視頻日志。

4. Great Mother: 母神，萬物之母。

5. dissect: 解剖。

此外，dissect還可以表示“詳細(xì)分析”，例如：Commentators are still dissecting the election results. （評論家仍然在剖析此次選舉的結(jié)果。）

6. piss on: 褻瀆，故意表示不敬。

7. stick one’s nose in: 牽涉在內(nèi)，干預(yù)。

例如：Mary is always ready to stick her nose into somebody else's business.（瑪麗總是打聽別人的事情。）

此外，poke one’s nose into也可以表示“管閑事”，例如：Don't poke your nose into my affairs（請不要干預(yù)我的事。）

8. big words: 大話，夸張之詞。例如：His big words were never backed by deeds.（他的豪言從未見之于行動。）

9. putter:（高爾夫運(yùn)動）推桿，輕擊球桿。

10.benign neglect：善意的忽視。(故意不正視問題,希望問題會自然消失)

11.screw: 使煩惱得不能正常生活；使神經(jīng)不正常。

此外，我們還常用screw up來表示“搞糟；攪亂；弄壞”。例如：Don't ask them to organize the trip, they'll only screw everything up.（別讓她們組織此行，他們準(zhǔn)得把一切都搞糟了。）

12.jar-head: 鍋蓋頭，美國海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊的發(fā)型。在這里指Jake原來是一個海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊員。

13.drop out: 退學(xué)，退伍。這里是說Jake是個退伍士兵。

14.trigger-happy: 好戰(zhàn)的。

例如：Thank goodness the new premier is not as trigger-happy as his predecessor.（謝天謝地，新總理不像他的前任那樣好戰(zhàn)。）

15.moron: 笨蛋，蠢貨。例如：He's an absolute moron!（他純粹是個傻子?。?/p>

16.puppet show: 木偶劇。

例如：The children staged an entertaining puppet show.（孩子們表演了一場十分有趣的木偶戲。）
