Following an epidemic, the Earth's population has been turned into an army of nocturnal zombies. Immune to the virus, military scientist Neville searches for a cure in his Washington Square townhouse. Haunted by visions of his family leaving quarantined Manhattan two years prior, he drives through the city with his German Shepherd, Sam, by day and barricades his home from the monsters nightly. But when Anna (Alice Braga)--another immune stranger-finds him, they will have to fight the onslaught twice as hard. Akiva Goldsman and Mark Protosevich's emotionally-charged script showcases the charisma of Smith, who commands the screen alone for most of the picture (aside Abbey, a talented German Shepherd). Director Francis Lawrence (CONSTANTINE) uses music minimally, wisely allowing the eerie cityscapes to remain mostly silent. The set pieces, including an overgrown, deserted Times Square and a lion hunting a deer in the Flatrion District, are goosebump-inducing moments of stark beauty. Though some may question the rendering of the monsters in CGI instead of using actors, it does allow them to be frighteningly acrobatic. A chilling and effective adaptation of a horror classic, I AM LEGEND is also a thought-provoking piece of Hollywood filmmaking.

Consensus:I Am Legend overcomes questionable special effects and succeeds largely on the strength of Will Smith's mesmerizing performance.

    這場災(zāi)難所導(dǎo)致的后果，就是紐約變成了一座死城，而羅伯特就成了這里僅存的一個人類--不知何故，他的血液對這種病毒有著天生的免疫能力。羅伯特知道自己可以支配兩種武器，那就是他在科學(xué)上的專業(yè)知識和自己的血液。曾經(jīng)在軍隊(duì)里討生活的經(jīng)歷，幫助他選擇了在這座被廢棄的城市中生活的方式，完全是高度系統(tǒng)化的，他每天都要堅(jiān)持大量的體能訓(xùn)練，還要不間斷地發(fā)出求救或?qū)ふ液妥约阂粯拥男掖嬲叩臒o線電波……羅伯特是一個非常自律的人，否則在這種極端孤獨(dú)的情況下，正常人都有可能發(fā)瘋。惟一還在與羅伯特并肩作戰(zhàn)的，就是他最為忠誠的伙伴薩姆，一只德國牧羊犬。白天，羅伯特帶著薩姆外出尋找維持生命的供給，然后去實(shí)驗(yàn)室時做研究、發(fā)無線電波；到了晚上，他們把自己關(guān)在一個堅(jiān)固得有如堡壘的建筑物中，觀察那些怪物在城市的街頭“覓食”。除了每天盡責(zé)盡職地做同樣的事情，羅伯特在這座“空城”當(dāng)中也享受到了完全的自由：他可以駕駛著他的跑車在街道上橫沖直撞；在戰(zhàn)斗機(jī)上打高爾夫；用無價的珠寶裝飾他的堡壘等等，就連市中心最繁忙的商業(yè)街，如今也變成了羅伯特自家的“后花園”。作為人類最后的希望，羅伯特被惟一的一個殘留下來的任務(wù)驅(qū)使著，那就是使用自己血液中的免疫系統(tǒng)，尋找逆轉(zhuǎn)病毒的方法。雖然他知道自己面對的是一個龐大的天文數(shù)字，但是他沒得選擇，因?yàn)樗臅r間就快用光了。
