父親：這些孩子究竟在看什么？
Father: What on earth are these kids watching?

母親：我不知道。我想是警匪片。
Mother: I don’t know. Police Squad, I think.

父親：有什么好看的？我所聽到的都是槍聲，尖利的剎車聲和撞車聲。
Father: Well, isn’t there something funny on? All I can hear are guns, screeching tires and cars crashing!

母親：那僅僅是個(gè)電視劇。
Mother: It’s just a TV show.

父親：我認(rèn)為是警匪片太暴力。成長(zhǎng)期間的孩子會(huì)認(rèn)為傷人是可以的。
Father: I think Police shows are too violent. Once they are grown up, kids will think that hurting people is OK.

母親：噢，其實(shí)，我認(rèn)為人們不必太擔(dān)心電視暴力問(wèn)題。畢竟，你沒(méi)有看到我們的孩子踢狗或互相毆打。
Mother: Oh, come on! I think people worry too much about TV violence. After all, you don’t see our kids kicking dogs or hitting each other.

父親：沒(méi)有，但是我看到他們?cè)谕鎽?zhàn)爭(zhēng)游戲，而且他們都要玩具手槍和武器。
Father: No, but I see them playing at war and they all want toy guns and weapons.

母親：從我個(gè)人角度，我認(rèn)為那些不好的連續(xù)劇也相當(dāng)糟糕。孩子們反過(guò)來(lái)和父母談?wù)摚ㄟ@些連續(xù)?。?。這些劇給孩子們?cè)斐珊軌牡挠绊?。這些劇也并不真實(shí)，我不想咱們孩子誤以為電視里的那些家庭是普遍現(xiàn)象。
Mother: Well, personally, I think those silly sitcoms are pretty bad, too. The kids talk back to their parents and they’re always getting into trouble! They’re not realistic at all. I don’t want our kids to think those TV families are normal.

父親：我知道你的意思，但你不認(rèn)為暴力更糟糕嗎？
Father: I know what you mean, but don’t you think that violence is worse?
