世博大家談：中國榜樣值得南亞效仿

1954年出生于尼泊爾農(nóng)民家庭，畢業(yè)于奇特旺農(nóng)業(yè)大學(xué)。1979年，成為尼共領(lǐng)袖。1980年代末組建團(tuán)結(jié)人民陣線，并以該黨為依托參加1991年該國實(shí)行多黨制后的首次大選。1996年，因主張廢除君主制與尼政府產(chǎn)生分歧，和他的支持者走上“武裝斗爭”的道路，并為自己取名普拉昌達(dá)，意為“憤怒之火”。2007年11月，普拉昌達(dá)率領(lǐng)的反政府軍與尼泊爾政府簽署和平協(xié)議，正式結(jié)束10多年內(nèi)戰(zhàn)。2008年8月至2009年5月?lián)文岵礌柟埠蛧偫怼?/p>

我很榮幸能夠向中華人民共和國政府表示我衷心的祝賀，祝賀2010年世界博覽會(huì)在上海盛大召開。從1851年第一屆倫敦世界博覽會(huì)開始，世博會(huì)就是一個(gè)國際舞臺(tái)，展現(xiàn)著人類在科學(xué)技術(shù)、工業(yè)產(chǎn)品和經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展等眾多領(lǐng)域中所獲取的成就和智慧；150年來，全球如此眾多的國家積極參與，也使得世博會(huì)成為了一個(gè)多元文化溝通、交流、甚至尋找解決方案的舞臺(tái)。

我欣喜地得知，上海世博會(huì)的主題是“城市，讓生活更美好”，在2010年5月1日到10月31日的180多天內(nèi)，上海將迎來全球200多個(gè)國家和組織的參與，將迎接7000多萬的八方來客，這將創(chuàng)下世博會(huì)歷史上游客和參展方最多的紀(jì)錄。中國能舉辦這樣一個(gè)盛會(huì)，也體現(xiàn)了中國作為21世紀(jì)一個(gè)經(jīng)濟(jì)和政治巨人的和平崛起，中國國力的上升，同樣符合國際社會(huì)的利益，尤其是像尼泊爾這樣的中國鄰邦。我們尼泊爾深信隨著中國取得越來越多的現(xiàn)代化成就，他們的鄰居們必然也會(huì)從中受惠：能獲得貧困的改善，取得更好的基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施發(fā)展，更多文化溝通和雙邊援助會(huì)充分展開。這屆世界博覽會(huì)選擇在上海這樣一個(gè)充滿生氣的城市舉辦，本身也會(huì)為世博會(huì)增加更多的魅力，這已是一個(gè)有目共睹的事實(shí)了。

對于本次世博會(huì)的主題——“城市，讓生活更美好”，我認(rèn)為是非常恰當(dāng)?shù)?。因?yàn)樾轮袊晒Φ貏?chuàng)建了諸多新興的城市，在這些城市里，政府為她的人民提供了諸如馬路、水資源、清潔和安全的環(huán)境，這些基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施為人民生活帶來了便利和實(shí)惠，這是世界上所有新興經(jīng)濟(jì)體都應(yīng)該引以為學(xué)習(xí)榜樣的事實(shí)。中國在可持續(xù)發(fā)展領(lǐng)域做出的努力應(yīng)該得到其他區(qū)域尤其是南亞國家的效仿。

為此，我們和我們的中國朋友共同慶賀，歡欣鼓舞。我為上海世博會(huì)的成功舉辦致以我最美好的祝福！

I feel privileged to heartily congratulate the people and the government of the People's Republic of China on the grand occasion of the World Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai. Since the beginning, the World Expo has served as a platform to showcase human achievement in the areas of science and technology, industrial goods and products and economic development. With the active participation of so many countries, it also serves as a stage for cross-cultural dialogue and the exchange of solutions. This spectacular occasion is a demonstration of China's peaceful rise as an economic and political giant of the 21th century.

This is indeed in the interest of the international community, especially neighboring countries like Nepal. We in Nepal are convinced that the modern achievements of China will benefit its neighbors in areas such as infrastructure

development, increased connectivity and assistance for the development of our poor economies. I understand that World Expo 2010, with the theme of "Better City, Better Life," is expecting the participation of over 200 countries and international organizations as well as 70 million visitors. That will set a new record in World Expo history. The fact that this Expo is taking place in a vibrant city like Shanghai adds color to the event itself.

I feel that the theme of "Better City, Better Life" appropriately demonstrates how China has set an example for all emerging economies in how to create new cities, build necessary infrastructure like roads, water and sanitation and

security, and provide for the well-being of people. China's undertaking in the area of sustainable development is worth replicating in other regions, especially in South Asia. Today we celebrate together and rejoice with our Chinese friends. My best wishes for the grand success of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China.
