    After the transfer, he was quick in catching up with his fellow students in academic learning, and soon revealed his strength in the study of advertisement and the professors all praised him highly. In the fall semester in 2000, I attended the (------) planned and organized by him, the activity further indicated his extraordinary organizing ability and I witnessed the growth and progress he made in his specialty studies. The article he published in (------) University really surprised me for his clear and penetrating analysis of the advertising administrative situation in China, it is rare for an undergraduate student to have such profound understandings.     I originally thought to let him stay in our department and continue to study advertisement for a master degree, but anyway I respect his choice to go to the United States and study advertisement in your country, I stand on his side in realizing his lifelong plans. I hope that your university to offer this excellent student an opportunity to continue his quest for knowledge and fulfill his dreams.

    本篇P.S.除了擁有一篇優(yōu)秀的P.S.所應(yīng)擁有的所有要素外，其最成功之處就在于開頭的"創(chuàng)意"和結(jié)尾處的"呼應(yīng)"。該生申請的是廣告學(xué)專業(yè)。眾所周知，廣告人的價值就在于創(chuàng)意。然則，嘉文博譯?所要追求的效果并非只是突出其客戶專業(yè)上的素質(zhì)，而是將其專業(yè)素質(zhì)與其人生追求融為一體。第一段既要"標新立異"，又要借機"明志"。請看譯文：

    “在英語所有26個字母中，我最喜歡大寫的D，因為在我的眼中，D是26個字母中最簡單但最優(yōu)美的字母，它筆劃極少，只有兩筆，但一條直線、一條曲線勾勒出完全不同的兩種軌跡。這仿佛時刻在昭示作為廣告人的心路歷程：從一點到另一點，可以走過的路線可以有無數(shù)條，但歸根結(jié)底是兩種，一條直線，一條曲線。大眾會選擇直線單刀直入，而廣告人應(yīng)該擇取曲線，曲折的軌跡也許會開闊眼界、豐富人生閱歷、錘煉與人良好有效的溝通和交流能力。我相信走的路越長，人生閱歷便愈豐富，就越能從生活的平凡事物中挖掘出新意。”

    本篇P.S.的結(jié)尾是我深夜十一點在高速公路上驅(qū)車回家的路上構(gòu)思的。這一構(gòu)思當時令我十分興奮。到家后迅速打筆記本電腦，寫下了以下這段文字（譯文）：

    “現(xiàn)在，我既已為自己勾勒出了我的行動方向，我便行將踏上我的人生征程，從人生的這端邁向另一端。還是讓我回到我關(guān)于D字母的那個隱喻吧。我已決定放棄那不費吹灰之力的直線而選擇那優(yōu)美的曲線。因為我相信，沿著這條曲線，無論有怎樣的坎坷曲折，它終將將我引向我已設(shè)定的理想。這其中所固的深刻真諦早就被詩人Robert Frost在其The Road Not Taken一詩中賦予了最富詩意的表述：‘兩條蹊徑在林中分忿延伸，而我--/我則選擇了不常有人行走的那條/ 而正是這一點產(chǎn)生了全然不同之結(jié)果。’”

    顯而易見，此結(jié)尾又是一箭雙雕，甚至是一箭三雕的。一是呼應(yīng)，二是通過引用美國讀者最喜愛的本國詩人的詩句來間接反映出P.S.主人公的人文修養(yǎng)及對美國文學(xué)乃至文化的涉獵，體現(xiàn)其作為未來廣告專業(yè)人士的綜合素質(zhì)。
