In the 20th century, the world population has increased dramatically, doubling in ever-shortening cycles. According to the statistics of the United Nations Population Fund, at the beginning of the 19th century, the world population stood at 1 billion, and by 1987 it reached 5 billion. And by the end of the 21st century, it will double to 10 billion.
Population explosion has become a serious problem. Above all, population growth has put enormous pressure on world food supplies, making it difficult, if not impossible, to avoid hunger on a massive scale. 20世紀(jì)，世界人口有了大幅增長，翻倍速度越來越快。根據(jù)聯(lián)合國人口基金會(huì)的統(tǒng)計(jì)數(shù)字，19世紀(jì)初，世界人口有10億，1987年達(dá)到了50億。到了21世紀(jì)末，世界人口將翻倍，達(dá)到100億。
人口爆炸已成為一個(gè)嚴(yán)重的問題。首先，人口增長給世界糧食供應(yīng)帶來了巨大的壓力，使人們很難--如果不是不可能--在大范圍內(nèi)消除饑餓現(xiàn)象。而且，日益增長的人口也對(duì)環(huán)境構(gòu)成了威脅。最后，人口過多還影響我們的生活質(zhì)量。
