Afghan Refugee Crisis
In Geneva, The United Nations says Pakistan and international aid groups face a crisis(1) dealing with Afghan refugees(2). A UN spokesman says as many as 250 refugees are crossing daily into Pakistan from Afghanistan. They are living in poor conditions in temporary(3) camps(4). More than one million Afghan refugees reported live inside Pakistan’s western border. Another one million are believed to be living in other parts of Pakistan. The UN refugee agency says it is also concerned about ten thousand Afghans currently on river islands between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. You are listening to the news in VOA Special English.
