布魯克

Rupert Brooke

布魯克（Rupert Brooke，1887-1915），英國二十世紀初期詩人，也是喬治詩人。他畢業(yè)于劍橋大學國王學院。第一次世界大戰(zhàn)期間，他擔任英國海軍軍官，隨軍遠征達達尼爾海峽，途中不幸患敗血癥身死。布魯克于1911年發(fā)表《詩集》，1915年發(fā)表十四行詩集《1914》，被認為是第一次世界大戰(zhàn)之前英國自由文化的代表。他在戰(zhàn)爭中創(chuàng)作的詩歌熱情歌頌英國青年軍人的愛國精神和英雄氣概。他的詩受浪漫派影響，重抒情，富于幻想。后來的詩作則表現(xiàn)出機智，有十七世紀英詩的風韻。

這些心原是由人類的哀樂所織成，

THESE hearts were woven of human joys and cares,

奇異地被悲哀沖洗過，又易于歡樂。

Washed marvellously with sorrow, swift to mirth .

The years had given them kindness. Dawn was theirs,

There are waters blown by changing winds to laughter

And lit by the rich skies, all day. And after,

冰雪一揮手，凝固了舞蹈的波浪，

Frost, with a gesture, stays the waves that dance

凝固了流動的美。冰雪在夜空下

And wandering loveliness. He leaves a white

留下了一種潔白的、堅固的光華，

Unbroken glory, a gathered radiance ,

A width, a shining peace, under the night.
