錫德尼（Phillip Sidney，1554-1586），伊麗莎白朝的朝臣，在修養(yǎng)、人格和文學(xué)才華方面都可稱為人文主義者的代表。曾寫過《為詩辯護(hù)》，認(rèn)為詩的創(chuàng)作并不要求客觀的真實(shí)，詩人可以創(chuàng)造更高的真實(shí)和更美的世界，這一觀點(diǎn)影響了當(dāng)時(shí)與后世的文學(xué)。他最為著名的詩作十四行組詩《愛星者與星》由108首十四行詩和11首歌組成，描寫一青年受美貌女子引誘，愛上了她，從而經(jīng)歷了內(nèi)心的矛盾。詩人將痛苦、柔情、欣喜、含蓄融為一體，音樂的美也得到展現(xiàn)，表現(xiàn)出詩的完美結(jié)構(gòu)與鮮明的藝術(shù)自律性。

月亮呵，你那么哀傷地攀上了蒼天！

With how sad steps, O Moon, thou climb'st the skies,

How silently , and with how wan a face!

怎么，那忙碌的弓手如今

What, may it be that even in heavenly place

在天庭之上也要來試他的利箭？

That busy archer his sharp arrows tries?

真的，假如我久識(shí)愛情的雙眼

Sure, if that long-with-love-acquainted eyes

能鑒別愛情，那么，你像個(gè)情人。

Can judge of love, thou feel'st a lover's case;

我看透了你的模樣；你凄婉的神情

I read it in thy looks: thy languished grace,

向同病的我透露了你處境的艱難。

To me that feel the like, thy state descries.

月亮呵，看在同病者份上，告訴我，

Then even of fellowship , O Moon, tell me,

天上可也把執(zhí)著的愛情當(dāng)愚蠢？

Is constant love deemed there but want of wit?

那兒的美人跟這兒的可同樣驕矜？

Are beauties there as proud as here they be?

她們在天上可喜歡被人愛——不過

Do they above love to be loved, and yet

情人們又瞧不起真正愛著的人？

Those lovers scorn whom that love doth possess?

她們是否把忘恩喚作美德？

Do they call virtue there ungratefulness ?
