李世民（599年—649年），即唐朝的第二位皇帝唐太宗，祖籍隴西成紀(jì)（今甘肅秦安縣西北），唐高祖皇帝李淵次子。少年征戰(zhàn)四方，滅隋取天下，功勛卓著。武德元年（618年），為尚書令，封秦王。九年（626年）于玄武門發(fā)動兵變，得太子位。旋登基，在位二十三年，文治武功，帝業(yè)空前，史譽(yù)“貞觀之治”。卒，廟號太宗。重視文藝，設(shè)文學(xué)館、弘文館，招延獎掖文士。親自修史，勤奮執(zhí)筆，詩文均有成績。《舊唐書·經(jīng)籍志下》著錄《唐太宗集》三十卷，《新唐書·藝文志四》著錄四十卷，《全唐文》錄其文七卷，其中賦五篇。

映庭含淺色，凝露泫浮光。

In the imperial garden the flower effloresces with vernal glory,
And the charming scene presents itself in the orchid nursery.
Shining on the courtyard with her light hue.
She is moistened with glittering dew.
Her umbrages are cast in an uneven form on fair day.
And the breeze wafts her delicate and refreshing perfume in a gentle way.
It behooves the gentleman to pluck a spray wherewith to fragrantly bedeck his array.
