道永遠是順任自然而無所作為的,卻又沒有什么事情不是它所作為的。侯王如果能按照“道”的原則為政治民,萬事萬物就會自我化育、自生自滅而得以充分發(fā)展。自生自長而產(chǎn)生貪欲時,我就要用“道”來鎮(zhèn)住它。用“道”的真樸來鎮(zhèn)服它,就不會產(chǎn)生貪欲之心了,萬事萬物沒有貪欲之心了,天下便自然而然達到穩(wěn)定、安寧。
第三十七章
道常無為,而無不為。
侯王若能守之,萬物將自化。
化而欲作,吾將鎮(zhèn)之以無名之樸。
無名之樸,夫亦將無欲。
不欲以靜,天下將自定。
Chapter 37
The Principe of the universe follows natural laws, without trying to “do” anything. As it follows natural laws, nothing is neglected.
If a ruler can follow this principle, then all the things in his nation will take place in a natural way.
During the process, if selfishness appears, then the simplicity that has no name must be used to dissolve it.
The simplicity that has no name implies unselfishness.
If everyone can achieve the unselfishness of not doing, this world will be in peace.
