To My Wife: With a Copy of My Poems
I can write no stately proem
As a prelude to my lay;
From a poet to a poem
I would dare to say.
For if of these fallen petals
One to you seem fair,
Love will waft it till it settles
On your hair.
And when wind and winter harden
All the loveless land,
It will whisper of the garden,
You will understand.

我寫(xiě)不出華麗的緒言
作為這些短歌的序曲;
我膽敢在此說(shuō)出的只是
一個(gè)詩(shī)人到一首詩(shī)。
倘若這些凋落的殘花
能有一朵你覺(jué)得美麗,
愛(ài)就會(huì)將它吹送,安息
在你的發(fā)絲。
當(dāng)北風(fēng)與冬天讓一切凝固,
一切變成愛(ài)的荒原,
它就會(huì)低訴花園的絮語(yǔ),
你就會(huì)恍然大悟。
