Lovers like men in fevers burn and rave,
And only what will injre them do crave.
Men's weakness makes love so severe,
They give him power by their fear，

Who to another does his heart submit,
Makes his own idol，and then worships it.

Peace and liberty does crown，
He apprehends no killing frown.
He feels no raptures which are joys diseased，
And is not much transported，but still pleased.

【作者簡介】　　凱瑟琳·菲力普斯（1631-1664）雖然在當今已經(jīng)鮮為人知，但在17世紀的英國詩歌界有一定的影響和知名度。她和丈夫詹姆士·菲力普斯所建立的詩歌社團“友誼協(xié)會”包括詩人亨利·沃恩、杰利米·泰勒和作曲家 亨利·洛斯。在協(xié)會中人們稱她為奧琳達。她的早期詩作發(fā)表于沃恩在1651年出版的詩集中，她的其它詩歌在她去世后于1667年出版。她的作品多表現(xiàn)出傳統(tǒng)的虔誠和傷感，詩人亞伯拉罕·考利為她作了一首品達式的哀歌，約翰·濟慈在致雷諾茲的信中抄錄了一首她的詩。
