“眉如潑墨，鬢若刀裁”(此處沿用楊憲益、戴乃迭譯本中的譯法)出自《紅樓夢(mèng)》，原是對(duì)賈寶玉容貌的描述。此處用來(lái)形容“姑父”夜華想來(lái)也是再適合不過(guò)了。

為了豐富畫(huà)面感，是明顯的意譯。“Over hills, over vales” 直譯應(yīng)是滿山滿谷，但是這樣直譯的話又顯得太沒(méi)有文學(xué)感覺(jué)了。所以便根據(jù)文本，豐富了“十里”的意象。“parade” 是“展覽、招搖過(guò)市”的意思，此處用作動(dòng)詞，可以想見(jiàn)桃花在枝頭爛開(kāi)得漫甚至有些招搖的畫(huà)面。“灼灼”在這里有“明亮”的意思，所以用了 “radiant”。而“Sweet”有“芳香”的意思。
