狼和羊
從前，有一只狼正朝著山坡上的泉水走去。當他抬起頭來看時，發(fā)現(xiàn)一只小羊羔正在稍低處喝水。“我的晚餐有了，”他想，“要是我能找到些借口去吃掉她就好了。”于是，他對羊大叫：“你竟敢弄臟我要喝的水?！?
“沒有，大人，”小羊羔說，“如果你那兒的水臟了，那不是我的原因，因為水是從你那里流到我這里的?！?
“那好，”狼說，“那去年這時候你為什么辱罵我？”
“那不可能，”小羊羔說，“我才六個月大?！?
“我不管，”狼大叫，“如果那不是你就是你的父親，”于是他沖向可憐的小羊羔，把她吃了下去。羊在死去前，大喊：“欲加之罪，何患無辭?！?
74 The Wolf and the Lamb
Once upon a time a Wolf was walking toward a spring on a
hillside. When he looked up, he saw a lamb just beginning to
drink a little lower down. "There's my supper,"thought he, "If
only I can find some excuse to eat it."Then he called out to
the lamb, "How dare you muddle the water from which I am
drinking?"
"Do, master, no,"said the lamb, "if the water is muddy up
there, I cannot be the cause of it, for it runs down from you
to me."
"Well, then,"said the Wolf, "Why did you call me bad names
this time last year?"
"That cannot be true."said the lamb, "I am only six months
old."
"I don's care,"shouted the wolf, "If it was not you it was
your father,"and with that he rushed upon the poor little lamb
and ate her all up. But before she died the lamb cried out,
"Any excuse will serve a tyrant."
