The state prosecutor general's office said on Wednesday that the number of deaths in a nightclub fire attack in Mexico has climbed up to 26, with 11 people injured in the fire.

The Caballo Blanco Bar was set on fire in Coatzacoalcos City in the state of Veracruz on Tuesday night by assailants, then they blocked the emergency exit to trap people inside.

Most of the deaths resulted of asphyxiation.

Governor of the state, Cuitlahuac Garcia, condemned the attack and said that federal investigations are undergoing and that the crime "will not go unpunished."
