Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said on Wednesday that South American countries would meet to determine a common policy in defense of the Amazon rainforest, and took another swipe at France for an offer of 20 million U.S. dollars in aid.

巴西總統(tǒng)布爾索納羅星期三說，南美國家將舉行會議，確定一項共同的保護亞馬遜雨林的政策，并再次抨擊法國提供的2000萬美元援助。

In an indication that Bolsonaro, a far-right conservative, is forging closer ties with neighboring countries than European nations, he also accepted an offer from Chile of four aircrafts to help fight the fires sweeping through the world’s largest rainforest.

他還接受了智利提供的四架飛機的提議，幫助撲滅席卷全球最大雨林的大火。這一跡象表明，極右翼保守派博爾索納羅正在與鄰國建立比歐洲國家更緊密的關系。

Speaking to journalists after a meeting with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera in Brasilia, Bolsonaro said that a meeting with regional neighbors except Venezuela to discuss a common policy in defense of the Amazon will be held on September 6 in the Colombian city of Leticia.

在與智利總統(tǒng)皮涅拉(Sebastian Pinera)在巴西利亞會晤后，布爾索納羅對記者說，將于9月6日在哥倫比亞城市萊蒂西亞(Leticia)與除委內(nèi)瑞拉以外的地區(qū)鄰國舉行一次會議，討論共同保護亞馬遜雨林的政策。

Pinera offered his full backing to Bolsonaro, saying the sovereignty of the nations that share the Amazon had to be respected, while Bolsonaro said that Brazil’s sovereignty had "no price, not even 20 trillion U.S. dollars."

皮涅拉全力支持布爾索納羅，他說，必須尊重與亞馬遜雨林接壤國家的主權，而布爾索納羅說，巴西的主權“沒有代價，20萬億美元也不行”。

That was a reference to an offer of 20-million U.S. dollar aid announced by French President Emmanuel Macron at a summit of the G7 wealthy nations in Biarritz over the weekend, which Bolsonaro dismissed as an insulting attempt to "buy" Brazil’s sovereignty.

這是指法國總統(tǒng)馬克龍上周末在比亞里茨舉行的七國集團(G7)富裕國家首腦會議上，宣布提供2000萬美元援助的提議，布爾索納羅認為這是一種“購買”巴西主權的侮辱性企圖。
