After a jam-packed August, filled with many surprisingly qualityfilms, September arrives to bring us a handful of fake Oscar bait,two rereleases of adored classics, seemingly all of the indies thatgot mixed reviews out of the film fest circuit and a bizarreplethora of thrillers and genre flicks. Looking at the slate rightnow, at least one thing becomes very clear: No new movie willpossibly make more money opening weekend than either of therereleases. It’s an interesting box office race this month, that’sfor sure. Let’s meet the competitors。

‘The Words’《妙筆生花》 (Sept 7)

故事主線為布萊德利·庫珀飾演的作家正處在事業(yè)高峰期，但一個(gè)神秘人物(杰瑞米·艾恩斯)的出現(xiàn)打亂了他的生活，他將要為偷竊別人創(chuàng)作成果而付出慘重代價(jià)。該片正在加拿大蒙特利爾熱拍中。

A writer at the peak of his literary success discovers the steepprice he must pay for stealing another man’s work。

Although word is the movie itself is a bit underwhelming and notas smart as it thinks it is, allegedly the performances are great,and overall the film works enough to not be terrible. It’s also theset where Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana met before embarking on aromance, for all of you that enjoy that sort of thing。

‘The Master’《大師》 (Sept 14 limited, Sept 21expands)

影片故事發(fā)生1952年，自稱The Master的男人(菲利普·塞默·霍夫曼)創(chuàng)建了一個(gè)名為“TheCause”的教會(huì)，隨著教派勢(shì)力的不斷壯大，The Master的助手FreddieSutton卻開始對(duì)信仰產(chǎn)生了質(zhì)疑，故事便是聚焦在這二人錯(cuò)綜復(fù)雜的關(guān)系。

Anderson’s first film since hisshould-have-won-the-Oscar “There Will Be Blood”， is “secretly”about the origins of Scientology, featuring Philip Seymour Hoffmanand Joaquin Phoenix in roles that may garner them even more Oscarnominations, and hey, maybe even another win for good ol’ Phil。

‘Trouble with the Curve’《曲線難題》 (Sept 21)

《曲線難題》講述一名上了年紀(jì)、經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富的棒球球探由于視力出現(xiàn)問題，他說服女兒陪自己踏上了最后一次招募新球員的旅程。

You know when you’re ready to write off a movie completely, but then see the trailer and get all confused? On its surface, “Trouble with the Curve” seems like a middle of the road not-”Moneyball”，starring a grumbly Clint Eastwood. While all of that actually maybe true, it also seems like it may not suck entirely, mostly due to Amy Adams and the frustratingly always-charming Justin Timberlake.Definitely a contender for this years “you laughed at it, then it got nominated for Best Picture. Huh?!” spot, a la “The Blind Side”.Oh and no, that is *not* a Mumford and Sons song in the trailer,it’s American Idol winner Phil Phillips, who really did pick theright manufactured first single, didn’t he?

‘Won’t Back Down’《決不退縮》 (Sept28)

Two determined mothers­, one a teacher, look to transform theirchildren’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful andentrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a differencein the education and future of their children。

Drama drama inspirational snoozy snooze. AND it’s written anddirected by the dude who wrote and directed “Beastly”， so… getready, guys. It’s also supposedly supremely anti-union and isscreening at the Republican Convention this week, complete withguest panel speakers Jeb Bush and Condoleeza Rice. Um. Okay.Cool?

‘Arbitrage’《套利交易》 (Sept 14)

影片的主角是一個(gè)“避險(xiǎn)基金”巨頭，他拼命要完成與銀行的一筆大交易，直到他的陰謀被揭穿，致命的錯(cuò)誤讓他陷入到未曾預(yù)想的麻煩之中。

The movie that will revitalize Richard Gere’s career that alsostars indie darling Brit Marling and… yes please. This directorialdebut from Nicholas Jarecki is pulling a rocking 100% on RottenTomatoes right now, after a strong festival showing, mostly becauseof Gere’s performance, along with co-star Nate Parker, whom Variety named one of 2012′s Breakthrough Performers. This tight corporate suspense thriller might be surprising us well into awards season。

‘End of Watch’《警戒結(jié)束》 (Sept 21)

《警戒結(jié)束》該片的故事梗概被描述得比較模糊——多年拍檔間的友誼，一個(gè)勵(lì)志故事，講述的是杰克·吉倫哈爾與邁克爾·佩納飾演的兩名洛杉磯警察之間的情誼。本片將透過警察、黑幫成員的攝像機(jī)，還有監(jiān)控?cái)z像頭、平民的抓拍，以近乎真實(shí)的鏡頭深入犯罪城市最黑暗的角落，展現(xiàn)警務(wù)人員每日出生入死的工作狀態(tài)，呈現(xiàn)他們的友誼、勇氣以及家人的付出。

One of those “and why were you at Comic-Con again?” movies,starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena and Anna Kendrick. Its director has a pretty solid track record, having written “The Fastand the Furious” and “Training Day”， among others, and “End ofWatch” marks the first time the cop genre is experimenting with the found footage style of cinematography and storytelling. Early buzzis positive, but then you see that “Magic Mike” dark spot of doom Cody Horn is playing a police officer and it makes your stomach hurt a little bit. Still, hopes remain relatively high for this one.

‘House at the End of the Street’《街尾之宅》 (Sept21)

詹妮弗·勞倫斯出演的是一位17歲的高中生，父親是搖滾樂隊(duì)混日，而母親也從未在她小的時(shí)候盡職盡責(zé)，整日和父親吸毒嗜酒，戒掉之后與女孩父親離婚，母女二人搬到一個(gè)小鎮(zhèn)上，準(zhǔn)備開始全新的生活，不料卻和一個(gè)曾發(fā)生兇殺案的房屋為鄰。母親整日出門工作，獨(dú)自一人在家的勞倫斯和馬克斯·希爾萊耶飾演的兇宅唯一一個(gè)幸存者成為朋友，在兩人接觸的過程中發(fā)現(xiàn)了這座街尾房子的駭人秘密。

Much to everyone’s shock and surprise, this new horror-suspense film is not a remake, reboot or reimagining! It stars Jennifer Lawrence, which you probably are all very aware of, considering the tv spots can’t get through 10 seconds without reminding you that“‘Hunger Games’ star Jennifer Lawrence!” is in it, as if somehow the two movies have a crossover audience. But no matter what,“House…” is a chance to see her doing something different, so at least there’s that。

‘Hello I Must Be Going’《你好，我必須離開》 (Sept 7)

Although reviews are mixed, and there is no way on Earth “Girls”star Christopher Abbott passes for 19 (sorry)， it’s about damn time indie MVP Melanie Lynskey got a starring role. This romantic dramedy opened Sundance this year, to a few grumbles who believed it wasn’t good enough, but plenty of reviewers still saw its charms, so don’t write it off completely just yet – Oscilloscope has a pretty fine track record, and Lynskey is long overdue for this type of role and deserves our support。

‘The Inbetweeners’《中間人》 (Sept 7)

“基本上他們只是想上床”——英國(guó)E4頻道首部原創(chuàng)喜劇《The Inbetweeners》講述了4名在城市中產(chǎn)階級(jí)社區(qū)長(zhǎng)大的青少年的故事，一個(gè)充滿著單相思、兄弟爭(zhēng)吵、酗酒、迷戀鄰家女孩、坐過山車、嘲笑朋友性行為的世界。忘記《皮囊》中那個(gè)性和毒品的世界吧，讓我們隨本劇一起回味一下大多數(shù)人的中學(xué)生活趣事。

A feature length film concluding the story originated on the hilarious BBC television show by the same name, “The Inbetweeners”is a must for any anglophiles out there, especially of the British comedy variety. The show is hilarious and considering the film brought the entire TV creative team to the big screen, there’s noreason to suspect it won’t be just as high quality。

‘Bachelorette’《未婚女子》 (Sept 7)

《未婚女子》講述了三個(gè)死黨被邀請(qǐng)當(dāng)伴娘，而新娘正是她們?cè)诟咧袝r(shí)稱作“豬臉”的女孩。三位死黨由克爾斯滕·鄧斯特、麗茲·卡潘、凱西·威爾遜出演，詹姆斯·麥斯登、亞當(dāng)·斯科特及凱爾·柏海莫分別扮演三位女星的男友。

Three friends are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding of a woman they used to ridicule back in high school。Although “Bachelorette”， written, directed and adapted from the play by Leslye Headlund, received mixed reviews out of Sundance, many calling it a mean spirited version of “Bridesmaids”， don’t befrightened away. The film might be tonally confused at times, and fans of the play may baulk at its alternate, happier ending, but the performances from Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, and in particulara fiery Kirsten Dunst, are worth the ride. Plus, supporting appearances from Rebel Wilson, James Marsden, Adam Scott, HayesMacArthur and Kyle Bornheimer certainly don’t hurt. BTW if you can’t wait a week, you can catch “Bachelorette” on VOD this verymoment。
