A:Who would like to be the first?

B:Let's listen to Mark's opinion.

Mr. Du would like to speak now.

I am very interested in his view.

We would like to hear Mary's opinion in advance.

We really need the honest opinions of everyone present. I look forward to hearing what each of you have to say.

實義動詞:need(需要,要求)

need +n./to do sth.

情態(tài)動詞:need,只用原形need后加do,否定形式為need not。Need you go yet?

Yes, I must./ No, I needn't.

need doing=need to be done

A:I'd like to turn to the next topic.

B:OK. The next topic is about budget.

Let's drop the subject.

Let's have a look at the next point.

Let's move on the next item on the agenda.

A:I will oppose that project.

B:Show your opinion to us, please.

May I speak a few words here?

Actually, I have a different opinion.

I am afraid I have to disagree with you.

A:Keep to the point, please.

B:Sorry. Let us get back on track then.

I have gotten carried away.

That's beside the point.

Please speak around the topic.

A:In my opinion, this system may be a little complicated, but it will be worth it in the long run.

B:I don't understand you.

A:Let me put it this way. What I want to say is that this system will be more efficient though it's a bit complicated now.

B:I know what you mean, and I can't agree more. What do you think, Allen?

C:I totally agree with Linda on this issue.

B:How about you, Mary?

D:We've never seen eye to eye on some matters, except this time.

B:It's really good!

* * *

see eye to eye(with someone)即兩個人對上眼,喻指兩人觀點看法一致(to totally agree with someone; to have the same opinions or views with someone)。該習(xí)語多用于否定句中,常用表達(dá)為see eye to eye with someone on/about something。

例如:It's funny how they've become friends even though they don't seem to see eye to eye on anything with each other.(他們兩個意見似乎總不一致,倒還能成為好朋友,真是有趣。)

A:Judy, could we have your comments?

B:All right. I think one of the main causes of the poor Canada sales of the original product was our advertising strategy.

A:Could you explain it specifically?

B:Well, we used the same Indian agency for both the Indian and Canadian campaigns, and campaigns were very similar-but response was 30% lower in Canada.

A:You mean the ad appealed more to an Indian audience than to a Canadian audience?

B:That's right.

A:That's interesting. In your mind, the cultural basis is the reason for this difference in advertising effect, right?

B:Exactly. Canadians value sports and sunshine. If we want to open the Canadian market, our advertise should need some change and should be more dynamic and fashion.

A:You didn't deliberately mislead, but I think we should take what you said with a grain of salt . I think the sales volume difference derived from poor management.

* * *

take something with a grain of salt對某事有保留、持懷疑態(tài)度。 Take something with a pinch of salt.

例如:What he said should be taken with a pinch of salt!
