They encountered severe storms and piercing cold. When half way up the mountains, a rumbling noise was heard among the cliffs.

他們?cè)庥龅絿?yán)重的暴風(fēng)雪和刺骨的寒冷。當(dāng)爬到半山高時(shí)，在懸崖上傳來了轟隆隆的噪音。

The guides looked at each other in alarm, for they knew well what it meant.
