When it shuts itself up, it forms a little green ball, not unlike a pea, and can hardly be known from the green grass amidst which it lies.

當(dāng)它閉合時，形成一個綠球，有點像豌豆，在草叢中很難被認(rèn)出來。

But look next morning, and the ball is open, showing, as the poet says, "a golden tuft within a silver crown." It is a very beautiful sight indeed to see the grass spangled with daisies, shining in the bright sun.

但是到了第二天早上，花球又開放了，正如詩人說的，“帶有銀色花冠的金籃花”看到草叢中的雛菊在太陽的照射下閃閃發(fā)光，確實是一幅美景。

It is said that this flower was at first called day's eye, because it opens its eye at the dawn of day; and that afterwards the name became daisy.

據(jù)說最初這種花叫做日光眼，因為在破曉時分會睜開眼睛，后來名字就變成雛菊了。

The golden flowers of the dandelion are shut up every night; and they are folded so closely together in their green coverings, that they look like buds which had never been opened. In places where the sun is very hot, the dandelion shuts itself up even during the day; and in this way it is sheltered in its green covering from the sun, and kept from fading.

蒲公英的金色花朵每晚都會閉合，它們在綠色的覆蓋物上如此近的折疊在一起，看起來像從未開放過的花蕾。在一些陽光很毒的地方，蒲公英甚至在白天也會閉合，用這種方法躲避炎熱的太陽，防止凋謝。

Some flowers hang down their heads at night, as if nodding in their sleep; but in the morning they lift them up again, to welcome the light. Other flowers have a particular time to open. The evening primrose, for example, is so called because it does not open till evening.

一些花兒在晚上會低下頭顱，好像在點頭睡覺一樣。但是到了早上，他們又會抬起頭，迎接陽光的到來。其他的花兒有的會在特別的時間開放。比如，夜來香，因為它到晚上才開放，名字由此而來。

Through spring, summer, and autumn, we have a constant succession of flowers, each having its own season, and opening at its appointed time, every year.

春天，夏天和秋天，我們會相繼欣賞到不同的花，每一種花都有季節(jié)性，在每年特定的時間開放。
