As we rolled into Eyford Station we saw a gigantic column of smoke

"Whose house is it?" "Dr. Becher's."

"是誰的房子？" "比徹醫(yī)生的。"

"Tell me," broke in the engineer, "is Dr. Becher a German, very thin, with a long, sharp nose?"

"告訴我，"工程師插了一句，"比徹醫(yī)生是個(gè)德國人，非常瘦削，有個(gè)又長又尖的鼻子，對(duì)不對(duì)？"

The station-master laughed heartily.

站長放聲大笑起來。

"No, sir, Dr. Becher is an Englishman, and there isn't a man in the parish who has a better-lined waistcoat.

"不對(duì)，先生，比徹醫(yī)生是個(gè)英國人，在我們這個(gè)教區(qū)里還沒一個(gè)人比他穿得更講究。

But he has a gentleman staying with him, a patient, as I understand, who is a foreigner,
