雙語(yǔ)脫口秀《老外來(lái)了》:老外聊三十而已

今天我們要聊一聊，一個(gè)多月前就想聊的話題，熱播劇《三十而已》 Nothing but Thirty。

1.都市情感劇:

三十而已Nothing but Thirty很像美國(guó)的Desperate Housewives 《絕望主婦》以及Sex and the City《欲望都市》。

2.三十而已——來(lái)自中國(guó)成語(yǔ)“三十而立”

劇名（Nothing but Thirty）靈感來(lái)自 a Chinese idiom（中國(guó)的成語(yǔ)）——三十而立（Standing at Thirty）。

中國(guó)人相信，人到三十歲的時(shí)候，應(yīng)該成家立業(yè)（being financially stable and having a family），在社會(huì)上立足。

“三十歲的焦慮”，怕：

They are not doing well and lacking self development. （三十歲而不能立。）

這部劇，turning the traditional idea around（改變傳統(tǒng)觀念）, 就把“三十而立”，換成了“三十而已”，Nothing but Thirty。

表示：Being 30 is just the beginning.

很多人有共鳴：Many people can relate to it.

3.三個(gè)女主角

1.顧佳

諧音“顧家”：Someone who takes care and looks after their family.

比如：我的太太很顧家。

My wife takes good care of my family.

a perfect housewife（家庭主婦）

beautiful, intelligent and courageous（集美麗與智慧于一身）

takes good care of her husband and educates her son very well（相夫教子，賢妻良母）

very elegant socially and skillful in the kitchen（上得廳堂下得廚房。）

However，這樣一位賢惠的妻子，她的丈夫卻出軌了：

Her husband cheated on her. / He had an affair.

2.王曼妮

“海漂”愛(ài)上了“海王”。

a sales assistant（一名“柜姐”）

a shanghai drifter（一名“海漂”）

海漂：在上海工作、生活的外地人Shanghai drifter

北漂：在北京工作、生活的外地人Beijing drifters

她愛(ài)上（falls in love with）一個(gè)多金多情的男人（rich and affectionate man），結(jié)果這個(gè)男人是“海王”（Sea King），最后他們以分手（broke up）告終。

* “海王”，是漢語(yǔ)中的buzz word（流行詞）, 源于（originates from）“本以為游進(jìn)了哥哥的魚(yú)塘，沒(méi)想到哥哥是個(gè)海王”。

I thought I swam into my his fish pond, but I didn't expect him to be a sea king.

意思是指曖昧關(guān)系眾多，經(jīng)常以“廣撒網(wǎng)、多捕魚(yú)”為中心指導(dǎo)思想撩妹（seduce girls）的渣男（players）。

3.鐘曉芹

像她的名字一樣（芹=芹菜），簡(jiǎn)單、無(wú)害harmless。

a nice and innocent good girl（一名“乖乖女”）

an ordinary office worker（平凡的“上班族”）

她跟丈夫離婚后又復(fù)婚（remarried），有一個(gè)happy ending。

這三位女主角，是好閨蜜。

閨蜜：best friends/ besties

例如：

①她是我閨蜜。

She is my best friend.

②她倆是閨蜜。

They are best friends.

*注意：閨蜜一定不可以用girlfriends這個(gè)詞，因?yàn)間irlfriends只用來(lái)指a relationship between a guy and a girl。

4.關(guān)于題目：

三十而立這句話，is a quote（引言） from Confucius：

吾十有五而志于學(xué)，三十而立，四十不惑，五十而知天命，六十而耳順，七十而從心所欲，不逾矩。

很多漢學(xué)家將孔子的這句話翻譯為英文，其中比較普遍一個(gè)翻譯版本來(lái)自英國(guó)著名漢學(xué)家理雅各（James Legge）：

At fifteen, I had my mind bent on learning.

At thirty, I stood firm.

At forty, I had no doubts.

At fifty, I know the decrees of Heaven.

At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth.

At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right.

“三十而立”“四十不惑”，是基于孔子十五歲就“志于學(xué)”，否則的話，四十歲剛好是“大惑不解”之時(shí)。

孔子得出的感悟并非適用于每一個(gè)人（apply to everyone），現(xiàn)在社會(huì)，it’s OK to start business or start doing something at forties.

Anyway, 我們都祝愿大家:

Stand firm at thirty and have no doubts at forty.
