一、Gifts to NOT Give 不能送的禮物

1.Clothes OR accessories /?k's?s?r?z/ 配飾

衣服或者配飾

You don’t know the person’s size and style.

因?yàn)槟悴恢缹?duì)方的尺碼以及穿戴風(fēng)格。

It’s too much of a guessing game.

這就像一個(gè)猜謎游戲。

Maybe these gifts end up gathering dust in the closet or being donated.

可能收到的衣服會(huì)在衣柜里布滿灰塵，或者最后被捐贈(zèng)出去。

這會(huì)讓對(duì)方心生愧疚。

2.Things you have lying around the house

家中的閑置物品

They call this “regifting” .

把家中閑置物品當(dāng)作禮物送人的行為叫作”regifting”（禮物轉(zhuǎn)送）。

It’s really uncomfortable.

It seems like you didn’t put a lot of thought into the gift

These gifts give a message that：

this person is smelly

這個(gè)人身上有怪味

needs to do something about their acne or B.O.

If the soap is handmade and has good smell,it can be OK.

如果是手工皂并且味道好聞的話，送肥皂未嘗不可。

Unless the person is close to you and you know what kind of products they like.

除非是很親近的人，你懂得他們的喜好，不然千萬(wàn)不要送，

尤其不要送女人（女人對(duì)自己用的東西很挑剔的）

Perfume is OK.But it runs a risk of that person doesn't like the scent.

香水也許是可以的，但不能保證對(duì)方會(huì)喜歡你送的香水的味道。（有點(diǎn)冒險(xiǎn)）

There is a big culture difference between China and Western countries (especially America).

由于中西方文化的巨大差異（尤其是美國(guó)），可能在我們看來(lái)自我提升類的禮物可以送，但對(duì)他們來(lái)講，這是一個(gè)禁忌（taboo） 。

Even between close friends or family , it’s considered rude to bring up the topic.

二、Gifts to give 可以送的禮物

1.A traditional Chinese object or handcraft有中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)特色的東西或者手工藝品

Teaching or sharing something from your own culture is a special gift.

幾周前，翩翩老師與我們外國(guó)同事喝茶時(shí)，向他們講了茶文化，好學(xué)的Mary聽(tīng)得都入神了。很多人不知道該跟外國(guó)友人談?wù)撌裁丛掝}，其實(shí)，你大可談?wù)撘幌轮袊?guó)文化，很多外國(guó)人都是對(duì)中國(guó)文化很著迷的。

2.Giving a gift according to their culture有他們文化特色的東西

Sometimes，it’s hard for them to live in China.

有時(shí)，對(duì)外國(guó)人來(lái)說(shuō)，居住在異國(guó)他鄉(xiāng)也是不易的。

It’s really easy to become homesick here.

他們也會(huì)有鄉(xiāng)愁。

Sometimes it’d hard to find things on Taobao as a foreigner .

For Christmas，Mary gave black pudding imported from England to his English boyfriend.

在圣誕節(jié)的時(shí)候，Mary送他英國(guó)男朋友從英國(guó)進(jìn)口來(lái)的黑布丁。Mary男友都freaked out（驚到了），特別驚喜。

Although it means a lot for foreigners to receive gifts from their own home,it is not obligated to do so.

盡管對(duì)外國(guó)友人來(lái)說(shuō)，收到有他們家鄉(xiāng)特色的東西會(huì)額外有意義，但是不要有心理負(fù)擔(dān)，不要覺(jué)得作為朋友你應(yīng)該去送那些。

還是那條rule：Not too much pressure.

What is the most important is that you put a lot of thought on the gift.
