Travel Plans for the Weekend周末旅游計劃
Lucy: How will you spend this lovely weekend?
露西：你打算怎么度過這個愉快的周末？
Aaron: Every Saturday night I tutor a kid. I usually sleep in late the next morning. Then on Sunday when I have nothing else to do. I like to play chess. What about you?
亞倫：我每周六晚上都給一個小孩做家教。第二天通常會起得很晚。周日如果沒什么事的話，我喜歡下棋。你呢？
Lucy: That sounds kind of boring. Why don't you come do a little traveling with me?
露西！聽起來有點無聊。你為什么不跟我出去旅旅游呢？
Aaron: Where? We have only two days.

Lucy: I was thinking we might go camping
露西：我覺得我們可以去野營啊。
Aaron: That's what we did last weekend. It was fun but I really need to work this weekend and I like playing chess. I'm not really interested in going back out to the country again.

Lucy: We did have fun. Doing a little travel on the weekend is much more interesting than sitting around in the city.

Aaron: Maybe, but I still have to teach on Saturday. I told the kid I'd be there this weekend because I missed last weekend. Maybe we could go for a picnic on Sunday. How does that sound?

1.“sleep in"的意思是“（比平時）晚起，睡懶覺”，可以解釋為：let yourself sleep later than usual in the morning。例如: He
stayed up too late and decided to sleep in the next morning.（他睡得太晚了，因此決定第二天早晨多睡一會兒。）I get a chance to sleep in at the weekend.（我在周末才有機(jī)會睡個懶覺。）
2.“go camping”的意思是“去野營”。
3.“play chess”意為“下棋”。類似的還有“play cards玩牌”，“play football賜足球”。但若“play”當(dāng)“演奏”講時，則要在“play” 和“樂器名”之間加個“the”，例如：play the piano（彈鋼琴）。

倫敦是一座歷史悠久、底蘊(yùn)深厚的城市，擁有許多值得一看的名勝古跡。如果你有機(jī)會到這里旅游度假，那么一定要去下面這幾個地方看一看。大本鐘Big Ben“大本鐘”被視為倫敦的象征，坐落于泰晤士河畔( the Thames)議會大廈的北面，聳立著高高的鐘樓，鑲有大鐘，名為“大本”。每隔一小時，大鐘根據(jù)格林威治( Greenwich)時間都會發(fā)出沉重而鏗鏘的響聲，在數(shù)英里之外也能聽到鐘聲的回蕩。
倫敦塔Tower of London位于泰晤士河北岸的塔山( Tower Hill)上，是一個占地達(dá)18英畝，由城堡、炮臺和箭樓等組成的龐大建筑群，建于1078年，當(dāng)時是外族征服者威廉建造的一個軍事城堡，中心塔是高約27米的白塔( the White Tower)．周圍有13座塔，其中的血塔(the Bloody Tower)被國王用來專門囚禁政治要犯以及國王的死敵。被關(guān)進(jìn)這座塔里的人大多都會被處死。如今，倫敦塔已經(jīng)成為收藏文物珍寶的博物館，保存有古代兵器、歷代王冠和王室珠寶，還有一根鑲有大寶石的皇杖。
大英博物館The British Museum大英博物館位于倫敦中心鬧市區(qū)的格雷·拉塞爾大街北側(cè)。它是一座規(guī)模宏大的古穸馬柱式建筑，氣魄雄偉、十分壯觀。這里珍藏的文物和圖書資料是世界上任何一個博物館所不能比擬的。大英博物館建于1753年。6年后正式開放，原來主要收藏圖書，其后兼收歷史文物和各國古代藝術(shù)品。
