英語早間課堂:教您一招說人際交往(2)

各位親愛的朋友們，歡迎來到早間課堂《拋招接招》小節(jié)目，我是Juliet。

我們和人交往，常用到嘴巴說話，用言語和別人進(jìn)行交流、溝通。如果只是和我們上回提到的“點(diǎn)頭之交”的人聊天就只是說些寒暄之言，說些不涉及對方隱私或一些敏感性的話。那么，即使不是點(diǎn)頭之交的人，在一起也熟悉一段時間了，可是還未達(dá)到親密無間的程度，我們就不會把內(nèi)心的酸甜苦辣或是深層次不同于他人的思想和別人進(jìn)行傾訴或交流，只是閑扯隨聊些東西。那么，今天我要拋出的說“人際交往”中，“Interpersonal Communication”中的“閑扯，隨聊”。是什么呢?

我們先來來聽2個句子：

例句-1：On Friday nights I usually go to a movie. But it was raining so hard last night I just stay in the dorm to sit around and shoot the breeze with a couple of friends.

例句-2：Joe, do you want to come along to meet Mike and Bob at the coffee shop? We can shoot the breeze for an hour or two about that great basketball game last night and relax before we have to study for that big test in economics tomorrow.

接招：在我們剛才聽到的2個例句中，我們都可以聽到同一個詞語：shoot the breeze。短語中shoot(It is spelled as s-h-o-o-t.)是“射擊”的意思，breeze(It is spelled as b-r-e-e-z-e.)是"微風(fēng)"的意思。Shoot the breeze字面意思是射擊微風(fēng)，當(dāng)然不是這個意思。作為習(xí)慣用語，它的意思是“to chat casually and without purpose or talk in a relaxed way about things that are not important”，意思是閑聊，隨聊——指的是閑來沒事談天說地打發(fā)時間。要表示閑聊的內(nèi)容則在短語的后面加上介詞about，即：shoot the breeze about something。

下面我們回到剛才聽到的例句中來看看它們的意思，體會這個習(xí)語的意思。

1. On Friday nights I usually go to a movie. But it was raining so hard last night I just stay in the dorm to sit around and shoot the breeze with a couple of friends.

這句話的意思是：我們通常在星期五晚上總是去看電影的?？墒牵蛱焱砩嫌晗碌煤艽?，所以我就得呆在宿舍里和幾個朋友一起聊天。

注解1：on Friday nights：在星期五晚上 (注意night后面的小尾巴s，不要遺忘了，因為句子中是指經(jīng)常在星期五的晚上)

注解2：go to a movie：看電影 同意表達(dá)有很多，例如：go to the picture，go to the cinema，see a movie，and so on。

注解：sit around意思是“做著沒事干”“呆坐著無所事事”。我們來看下面的2個例句：

Eg . You're not paid to sit around doing nothing!

花錢雇你來可不是讓你坐著不干活的!

Eg . Why should you sit around being lazy all day while I am stuck in here, working my fingers to the bone?

我守在這里拼命干活，為什么你該整天閑坐著無所事事呢?(stuck in：忙碌的，專心致志的 work one's fingers to the bone：長時間的辛苦勞作)

注解4：a couple of：幾個。

2. Joe, do you want to come along to meet Mike and Bob at the coffee shop? We can shoot the breeze for an hour or two about that great basketball game last night and relax before we have to study for that big test in economics tomorrow.

這句話的意思是：Joe，你要不要一起去咖啡館跟Mike和Bob碰個頭?我們可以悠閑地聊上一兩小時，談?wù)勛蛲砟菆鼍实幕@球賽。在我們不得不準(zhǔn)備明天的經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)大考之前先輕松一下。

注解1：come along在本句中是“一道來、一起來”的意思。再如：I hope you'll come along with us on Chinese representation. 我希望你們在中國代表權(quán)問題上跟我們共同行動。其他意思如下：出現(xiàn)，發(fā)生，進(jìn)步，進(jìn)展，(表述催促)快點(diǎn)兒。

注解2： shoot the breeze for some time about something：閑聊什么東西聊多久(注意閑聊的時長發(fā)在閑聊的事情的前面)

注解3：test in：某科目的考試 study for the test:復(fù)習(xí)

下面我們通過更多的例句來熟悉這個習(xí)語的意思以及運(yùn)用這個習(xí)語。

Say, Bill, how about coming back to my room after class? I'll get a couple of cold sodas and we'll shoot the breeze for a while.喂，Bill，上完課你到我宿舍去吧。我去買兩瓶汽水，咱們聊回兒天,你看如何?

He used to come in and do nothing but shoot the breeze for forty minutes.

他一來他往往啥事也不干，先閑聊上四十分鐘。

Mary likes to shoot the breeze on the phone.

Mary是個煲電話粥的人。

Hank and his pals spend a lot of time drinking beer, shooting the breeze, and thinking about girls.

Hank和他的狗肉朋友成天就喝酒聊天，而且還想玩女孩。
