Fist of all , it's used to express " an act of tying to hurt or kill somebody, using violence such as a knife". 意思是：(以刀等武力)傷害某人，殺死某人。Look at the following sentence: A gang of youths make an attack on that woman and robbed her. 那位婦女遭到了一伙年輕人的襲擊和搶劫。A gang of 是“一幫，一群，一伙”的意思，make an attack on somebody 意思是向某人進(jìn)攻。Please pay attention to the preposition "on" .
Secondly , "attack" can be used to express "an act of trying to kill or injure the enemy , using weapon in war". 意思是：(在戰(zhàn)爭中以武器)進(jìn)攻，攻擊。Look at this sentence: At down the army launch an attack on the town. 軍隊(duì)在拂曉之時(shí)向這座城市發(fā)起了進(jìn)攻。Launch an attack on(upon) something 是“對(向)某物發(fā)起進(jìn)攻”的意思。我們還可以用make, mount, deliver等詞兒來表述“發(fā)起”之意。即：make an attack , mount an attack, deliver an attack. 要表述“對某物或者是某人發(fā)起進(jìn)攻”，介詞可以用on或者是against. Look at these two sentences: We made an attack on Japanese enemies at night yesterday. 我們在昨晚深夜襲擊了日本鬼子。The commander gave us an order that we must mount an attack against them at noon. 司令下了命令了，說我們必須在中午對他們發(fā)起進(jìn)攻。 Look at this typical example sentence: The patrol came under attack from all sides. 巡邏隊(duì)遭到了四面八方的襲擊。Under attack是遭到襲擊的意思，它通常與come連用來表述這個(gè)意思，即：come under attack. 我們中文中說的"四面八方"的英文表達(dá)就是“from all sides”。我們中國的古典民樂中有一首曲子叫做《十面埋伏》，則表述為：Ambush from All Sides 。西漢史學(xué)家•司馬遷《史記•項(xiàng)羽本紀(jì)》中有一句話：夜聞漢軍四面皆楚歌”。“四面楚歌”的英文表述則是：Beseiged From All Sides。
Thirdly，“attack”means " strong criticism of somebody or something in writing or speech". 意思是;用言語或者書面強(qiáng)烈地批評某人或某物，也就是中文中文學(xué)詞語”抨擊，非難”的意思。Look at the following sentences: The school has come under attack for failing to encourage bright pupil. 這所學(xué)校因?yàn)槲垂膭?lì)聰明的學(xué)生而受到非難。這個(gè)句子中，也是under attack與come連用表述“遭到非難，抨擊”的意思。They started an attack against each other with sharp words. 他們開始用激烈的語言互相抨擊起來了。The public made an scathing attack on the goverment's policies. 民眾猛烈地抨擊政府的政策。
