英語早間課堂:Your secret's safe with me.
Last time we learned a short sentence: Don't tell a soul. which is used to warn somebody not to discuss something private with anyone else. If you ask somebody not to tell a soul about something, maybe his answers are: "My lips are sealed. ' " I will keep my mouth shut. '" I am not one to kiss and tell. " "I will keep quiet about it. " and so on. However, I have a perfect answer you don't know. Want to know? If so, please listen to the following simple situational dialogue and I'm sure you can get it. A : Actually I only have a high school education. B : Your secret's safe with me. I thought you'd been to university.

It is " Your secret is safe with me." 直譯為：你的秘密和我在一起是安全的。This means "I won't tell anyone." It's a way of saying that the speaker can be trusted. It's similar to saying "我會(huì)替你保密的" in Chinese. If we want to express someone won't tell something else to others , it's fine that we just remember this sentence structure ：(something) is safe with (somebody). 從這個(gè)短語中，我們可以舉一反三，如果我們要說某人替某事保密，我們可以用這個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)：(something) is safe with (somebody).

【關(guān)鍵詞】In this sentence "safe"is the key word means "protected". Here's phrase"be safe from somebody or something" which means "be protected from any danger or harm". 意思是：免遭受某人或者是某事的危險(xiǎn)和傷害。For example : They aimed to make the country safe from terrorist attacks. 他們力圖使國家免遭恐怖分子襲擊。

【文法】這是一個(gè)含有賓語從句的復(fù)合句。主句是：I thought, 從句是： you'd been to university，在這個(gè)從句中，to university是介詞短語作表語. 既然有主句和從句，我們就要注意主句與從句的時(shí)態(tài)要呼應(yīng)。這個(gè)賓語從句用的是過去完成時(shí)，因?yàn)檎fB上過大學(xué)在A想之前，而想用的是過去式，因此從句就要用過去完成時(shí)。
