作為公眾奴仆的薩姆遜被立即帶了上來(lái)，穿著仆人的制服，

before him pipes and timbrels; on each side went armed guards; Both horse and foot before him and behind,

前面笙簫開道，還有人把手鼓來(lái)?yè)u;全副武裝的兵甲陳列兩側(cè);騎兵和步兵列前殿后，

archers and slingers, cataphracts, and spears. At sight of him the people with a shout rifted the air,

弓箭手和石彈手，身披甲胄荷槍在手的一個(gè)都不少。見到他眾人齊聲高呼響徹云霄，

clamoring their god with praise, who had made their dreadful enemy their thrall.

人聲鼎沸頌揚(yáng)他們的神明，可怕的敵人成了他們的奴隸。

He, patient, but undaunted, where they led him, came to the place; and what was set before him,

他們帶他上場(chǎng)，沉著而凜然，來(lái)到演武場(chǎng)，刀槍就擺在前方，

which without help of eye might be essayed, to heave, pull, draw, or break,

不用眼睛看，就能把武藝來(lái)現(xiàn)，上舉，拉弓，抽刀，斷石，

he still performed all with incredible, stupendous force, none daring to appear antagonist.

全憑的是令人難以置信的神力，誰(shuí)也不敢上前與他比試。

At length for intermission sake, they led him between the pillars; he his guide requested, as overtired,

最后在中間休息時(shí)分，他們領(lǐng)他到石柱中間，他懇請(qǐng)領(lǐng)他的人，太累了，

to let him lean a while with both his arms on those two massy pillars, that to the arched roof gave main support.
