我不愿意中斷這場辯論的進(jìn)程，這場辯論以溫和而高雅的方式進(jìn)行，

by men who do not suffer the ardor of opposition to cloud their reason,

or transport them to such expressions as the dignity of this assembly does not admit.

how little the discovery of truth is promoted, and the security of the nation established, by pompous diction and theatrical emotion.

Formidable sounds and furious declamation, confident assertions and lofty periods, may affect the young and inexperienced;

可怕的喧囂和用慷慨激昂的演說來宣泄狂怒，有自信心的主張和表現(xiàn)出高高在上的傲慢，也許會影響年輕人和無甚經(jīng)驗(yàn)的人;
