小鳥和我
Birdie, where are you going, dear,
親愛的小鳥，你上哪里去，
In such haste?
走得這么匆忙?
Grapes are purpling far and near;
遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)近近，葡萄都熟了，
Stop and taste.
何不停下嘗一嘗?
Apples are reddening on the bough;
枝頭的蘋果，變得紅艷艷，
Warm winds blow;
沐浴著暖風(fēng)：
Never was world so pleasant as now：
這世界從沒有如此美好，
Why will you go?
你為何要啟程?
Who has been filling your feathery head
是誰，把你羽毛下的小腦袋
With such dismay
盛滿了莫大痛苦，
That, with your tail and your wings outspread,
讓你展開雙翼，翹起尾巴，
You hurry away?
匆匆地不愿回顧?
Surely if we big folks and wise
若是我們這些聰明的大塊頭
See no cause
找不到緣故，
To flee from these blue and sunny skies,
去逃離這蔚藍(lán)的晴空，
You might pause
你或許仍將駐足，
Pause for a little while, and see ’Tis autumn yet;
駐足片刻吧，來看一看，這秋天的模樣，
Winter is old and blind, and he May forget.
冬天老了，眼神又不好，他或許把來路遺忘
Just for a moment Birdie stops,
小鳥停下了，停了一霎，
Winks his eye
它眼晴忽然輕眨;
Like a shining bead, and nearer hops
宛若閃光的珍珠，跳到近前，
To make reply.
開口作出了回答
"Winter 'forget' indeed! Not he!
“冬天會(huì)健忘?怎么可能!
Any linnet Would laugh at the foolish hope, and see Nothing in it.
不管哪只紅雀，都會(huì)說笑這愚蠢的希望，知道它肯定斷絕
Could you but see my nest safe swung"
莫非你看不見，我安穩(wěn)的巢
In a great fan palm,
在芭蕉葉里搖晃，
With perfumed flower-cups overhung,
頭上是盛滿香脂的花朵，
With their breath of ball!
氣息都透著芬芳?
"Great gold oranges growing close by,
“大紅的橘子就生在近旁，
Ripen at will;
成熟得沒大沒小;
A single hop from my nest, and I Can use my bill.
只需從巢里一躍，就能夠消受得沒完沒了
Do you think, when I can see such sweet" Sights and shapes,
“你真以為，我已經(jīng)見到這般甜美的模樣，
I am likely to linger here and eat Your sour grapes?
還愿意逗留在這里去把你的酸葡萄品嘗?
‘To see the roses grow pale and die,
“還看著玫瑰漸漸枯萎凋謝，
And ice and snow
還看著不久之前
Fill the nest we built so lovingly A while ago?
我們剛剛壘好的香巢淹沒在冰雪之間?
"Winter will come: yet stay, if so
“要是你喜歡，就留下吧，
To you best seems;
冬天一定會(huì)來;
We birds are but small，but well we know
我們鳥兒雖小，舒適的意思，
What comfort means."
卻比誰都明白。”
A flick, a whirr——he is off, he is gone,
翅膀一拍，呼啦一響，
Lost in the sky;
他就消失在天際，
And I shiver and think, how sad I have grown
留下顫抖的我，為自己這副
Too big to fly.
沉重的軀殼惋借。
