"It snows!" CRIes the Schoolboy, "Hurrah!" and his shout is ringing through parlor and hall, While swift as the wing of a swallow, he's out,

“下雪了！”一位校園男生高聲叫著，“太好啦！”伴隨一聲尖叫劃過(guò)門廳，穿過(guò)走廊，他像只迅疾的燕子飛奔門外，

And his playmates have answered his call;

同學(xué)們隨即回應(yīng)他的大呼小叫。

It makes the heart leap but to witness their joy;

不過(guò)目睹他們的快樂(lè)張揚(yáng)，你的心在歡跳；

Proud wealth has no pleasures, I trow,

竊以為，驕傲的財(cái)富絕不會(huì)給人帶來(lái)欣喜，

Like the rapture that throbs in the pulse of the boy as he gathers his treasures of snow;

傾慕應(yīng)該來(lái)自那些青春脈搏的活力四射，因?yàn)樗麄兣跗饋?lái)自圣父的雪花饋贈(zèng)，

Then lay not the trappings of gold on thine heirs, While health and the riches of nature are theirs.

并非顯擺父母給予的財(cái)產(chǎn)繼承，健康與天籟的得天獨(dú)厚原本屬于他們。

"It snows!" sighs the Imbecile, "Ah!" and his breath comes heavy, as clogged with a weight;

“下雪了！”愚蠢的人在嘆息，“唉呀！”他的呼吸變得如此滯重，似乎心有所雍；

While, from the pale aspect of nature in death, He turns to the blaze of his grate;

從死亡本質(zhì)的慘白里，他不得不求助壁爐里烈火的熊熊溫暖；

And nearer and nearer, his soft-cushioned chair is wheeled toward the life-giving flame;

那優(yōu)裕的溫柔鄉(xiāng)愈來(lái)愈近，旋轉(zhuǎn)著沖向賦以生命形式的骨骼，

He dreads a chill puff of the snow-burdened air, Lest it wither his delicate frame;

他害怕風(fēng)中卷起的寒意徹骨，唯恐會(huì)摧毀他那孱弱不堪的肉體。

Oh! small is the pleasure existence can give, When the fear we shall die only proves that we live!

噢，生存給予的快樂(lè)那么微不足道，人類無(wú)法逃脫死亡的恐懼僅僅證明，他，依然茍延殘喘。

"It snows!" CRIes the Traveler, "Ho!"

“下雪了！”路途上行者發(fā)出感嘆。“駕！”

and the word has quickened his steed's lagging pace;

他策馬加鞭，加快速度。

The wind rushes by, but its howl is unheard, Unfelt the sharp drift in his face;

風(fēng)，在肆虐，但他難以聽(tīng)見(jiàn)風(fēng)的尖利呼嘯，只有刀子般撲面的疼痛；

For bright through the tempest his own home appeared, Ay, though leagues intervened, he can see:

光，沖破風(fēng)雪彌漫，他已看到前方；家，隱約在現(xiàn)。

There's the clear, glowing hearth, and the table prepared,

心靈相通的人兒，他能看見(jiàn)家里壁爐明凈溫暖，桌臺(tái)已擺好，

And his wife with her babes at her knee;

孩子們趴在妻子膝間玩耍，全家人都在焦急地等他。

Blest thought! how it lightens the grief-laden hour,

唯有蒙恩念想，才能減輕辛勤勞作的悲哀。

That those we love dearest are safe from its power!

我摯愛(ài)的親人們呵，從主的祝福中獲得安寧。
