You can also put some sort of fruit on top of the waffle also; I just like the sugar, myself. 你也可以在華夫餅上放上一些水果;可我偏愛(ài)放糖。

Something similar to a waffle is a pancake, "pancake," (all one word), 與華夫餅相似的是煎餅(pancake)，(一個(gè)字)，

and a pancake is also made from this batter—this liquid—thick liquid—except it goes into a flat pan on your stove and you flip it over. 煎餅也是用那濃稠的糊狀物做成的——不同的是煎餅要放在爐灶上的平底鍋里，并且還要翻轉(zhuǎn)它。

So, it's completely flat, there are no squares in it, usually it's round, and that's called a pancake. 因此，平底鍋很平，里面沒(méi)有方形小格，它一般是圓形的，那就叫做煎餅。

Both waffles and pancakes can be in stacks. 華夫餅和煎餅都能堆起來(lái)。

A stack, "stack," is when you have one long, thin thing on top of another. 堆(stack)，就是一個(gè)又長(zhǎng)又薄的物體放在另一個(gè)的上面。

So, you can have a stack of paper, pieces of paper one on top of the other. 比如，你有一堆紙，它就是一張紙放在另一張紙上。

The same is true with a waffle or with pancakes. 華夫餅或煎餅也是如此。

You can have a stack of waffles, one waffle on top of another, or a stack of pancakes. 你可以有一堆華夫餅，也就是一塊華夫餅在另一塊的上面，或一堆煎餅。

Usually, we talk about a stack of pancakes. 通常，我們會(huì)在下面的情況下說(shuō)到一堆煎餅。

If you go to a restaurant and you order breakfast and you want pancakes, 如果你去飯店，你點(diǎn)早餐時(shí)想要點(diǎn)煎餅，

sometimes they will ask you if want a "short stack," meaning just one or two, or you might have a regular stack, which could be four or five. 有時(shí)飯店服務(wù)員會(huì)問(wèn)你是要“不到一堆”的煎餅，意思是只要一兩塊，還是要正常的一堆煎餅，也就是有四五塊的樣子。
