The use of "love" and "hate" in English is completely different from Chinese: 愛、恨在英語(yǔ)里的用法和中文非常不同
It's nowhere near the same: 大相徑庭、完全不同
比如：如果你聽到"I love you",你的第一反應(yīng)是?
"So sweet!"
"I love you too!"
但是，美國(guó)人的反應(yīng)是：
Love是一顆炸彈!
大家記得最近節(jié)目放過一首歌"Something stupid"嗎?
歌詞有一句：
Then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you"
Why is saying "I love you" stupid? 說(shuō)“我愛你”怎么會(huì)很傻呢?
Isn't it sweet? 不是很甜蜜嗎?
We call it "drop the L bomb": 英語(yǔ)有個(gè)說(shuō)法，叫扔L炸彈
Too much too soon: 壓力太大、來(lái)得太快
Americans tend to be very careful when it comes to saying "I love you": 美國(guó)人對(duì)說(shuō)“我愛你”特別謹(jǐn)慎
但是，日常生活中，美國(guó)人卻常把love掛在嘴邊
比如吃漢堡：
McDonald's slogan "I'm lovin' it": 麥當(dāng)勞的廣告語(yǔ)“我就喜歡”
口語(yǔ)里，“love”還能怎么用?
I loved that movie. It was the best! 我太喜歡那部電影了，真好看!
Did you see the show? 你看那個(gè)節(jié)目了嗎?
Yes, I totally love it! 看了，太喜歡了!
How is the food? 菜好吃嗎?
I love it! Just love it! 好吃!我太喜歡了!
上面這些日常情況，中文基本都會(huì)用“喜歡”表達(dá)情緒;可是英語(yǔ)卻要用“love".
如果用“I like it", 反而容易造成誤解!
Why?為什么?
"I like it" or "I like it very much" doesn't sound very sincere or enthusiastic: 我喜歡、我非常喜歡在英語(yǔ)里聽起來(lái)反而有點(diǎn)不真誠(chéng)、沒什么熱情
總之：
表達(dá)你非常喜歡一個(gè)事物，大家記得用love!
家人之間的love
"Love" is also used a lot between family members, parents and kids: love在親人、父母、孩子之間也很常用
I don't think I've ever said "我愛你" to my parents: 我好像從來(lái)沒對(duì)我父母說(shuō)過“我愛你”
It feels so awkward. I don't know how to say it: 感覺很尷尬，不知怎么開口
My parents don't really say it to me either: 我爸爸媽媽好像也不會(huì)跟我說(shuō)
But I say "mommy loves you" to my sons all the time: 但是，我倒常用英語(yǔ)跟孩子說(shuō)“mommy loves you"
I don't really say it in Chinese though, feels really awkward: 但是我不太用中文跟他們說(shuō)“媽媽愛你”，也覺得很尷尬
Maybe when it's not your mother tongue, it's easier to say: 有可能不是自己的母語(yǔ)，反而更容易說(shuō)
不過有些美國(guó)人也覺得對(duì)家人說(shuō)"I love you"有點(diǎn)兒別扭
WASPs don't say it as much: 英國(guó)血統(tǒng)的美國(guó)人好像沒那么常說(shuō)“I love you"

They are more reserved: 他們比較含蓄
Sons don't say "I love you" as much as daughters: 還有兒子，也不像女兒那么愿意對(duì)父母說(shuō)"I love you"
Girls, even grown-up girls say it all the time to their parents: 女兒，就算是成年了，也常跟父母說(shuō)“I love you"
你誤解了love和hate的含義
說(shuō)完love, 說(shuō)hate
中文“恨”是個(gè)特別強(qiáng)烈的字，日常很少用。
但是英語(yǔ)的hate口語(yǔ)卻很常用。
基本，剛才所有用love的例子，也可以很自然地用hate。
比如：
I hated that movie. It was so bad. 那部電影太難看了，我一點(diǎn)兒都不喜歡。
It has been raining non-stop. I hate this weather! 天天下雨，天氣太討厭了!
Traffic is so bad. I hate it! 路真堵，煩死了!
所以，hate在口語(yǔ)里，更多是“討厭”的意思，而不是恨。
To hate a person?
用在人身上呢?
Be careful with using "hate" on people: 用在人身上，要特別謹(jǐn)慎
You can use it jokingly with your friends: 也許跟很好的朋友，可以用調(diào)侃的語(yǔ)氣
比如：
A: My husband is taking me on a trip to Italy! 我老公要帶我去意大利玩兒
B: Oh, I hate you! 哦，我恨你!羨慕、嫉妒、恨
But in general, hate is a very strong word if you use it on people: 不過總的來(lái)說(shuō)，hate用在人身上，語(yǔ)氣是很強(qiáng)的
之前說(shuō)到hate在口語(yǔ)里有“討厭”的意思，那“真討厭!”英語(yǔ)怎么說(shuō)?
I hate it when you ...: 英語(yǔ)通常會(huì)說(shuō)那個(gè)具體的行為
But it's still pretty direct and strong: 不過語(yǔ)氣還是挺直接、強(qiáng)烈的
When a Chinese girl says "你真討厭"，it's mostly being coquettish: 中國(guó)女生說(shuō)“你真討厭”，經(jīng)常是在撒嬌

A love hate relationship | 愛恨交織
A love hate relationship with someone or something: 又愛又恨、愛恨交加的關(guān)系
怎么用?
I have a love hate relationship with my phone: 我對(duì)手機(jī)真是又愛又恨
A love hate relationship with your work/your boss: 對(duì)于自己的工作、對(duì)于自己的老板，大概也有些愛恨交織的情緒
Many foreigners have a love hate relationship with China: 很多外國(guó)人，對(duì)中國(guó)也是愛恨交織
*大家注意不是A love and hate relationship;
而是A love hate relationship*
Love hate的另一個(gè)高段位用法
Love to hate: 又愛又恨、欲罷不能
Especially true with celebrities: 大眾看明星，經(jīng)常都有這種情緒
Kim Kardashian is someone many Americans love to hate: 比如卡戴珊，美國(guó)人就是love to hate
They hate her for being so high-profile, but they love to read news about her: 很多人討厭她高調(diào)、作秀，但同時(shí)又特別愛看她的八卦新聞
They can't get enough of her: 欲罷不能
