【笑話原文】

Squeeze Twice for NO

During a football game I saw one of the players took a hard hit. He tumbled to the ground and didn’t move. We grabbed our first-aid gear and rushed out onto the field. The coach picked up the young man’s hand and urged，“Son, can you hear me? Squeeze once for yes and twice for two.”

在橄欖球比賽中，我看到一個球員被撞得很厲害。他倒在地上，一動也不動。 我們抓起急救設備，沖進運動場。教練抓住這個年輕人的手催促說：“孩子，你能不能聽見我說話?能聽見捏一下，聽不見捏兩下。”

【詞匯講解】

1.squeeze捏。也有“榨取”的意思： We squeezed the juice from an orange.我們從橙子中擠出汁來。

2.tumble摔倒。也有“翻滾”的意思： Children tumble over each other in play.孩子們玩耍時相互連身翻滾。

3.grab抓起。也可以指“搶”：It is rude to grab a seat.搶占座位是不禮貌的。

4.gear設備。也有“為…作好準備”的意思： a group of investors who had geared up for the takeover fight 已經(jīng)為兼并做好準備的一群投資人
