The father asked his son why.
The kid replied, "The math whiz who sits next to me was absent on the day of the test."

"flunk"除了表“(考試)不及格”，還可以表示“通不過(guò)(考試等)、(某學(xué)科)沒(méi)通過(guò)、因成績(jī)差而被退學(xué)(flunk out)。
