I should like to rise and go	我真想起身，抬腿就走。
Where the golden apples grow;----	到金色蘋果園里去漫游;——
Where below another sky	去那兒：上面是異國(guó)的藍(lán)天，
Parrot islands anchored lie,	下面是鸚鵡島，橫躺在海面，
And, watched by cockatoos and goats, Lonely	孤獨(dú)的魯濱孫們?cè)诮ㄔ炷敬?/td>
Crusoes building boats; ----	白鸚和山羊守候在旁邊;——
Where in sunshine reaching out	去那兒：一座座東方的城鎮(zhèn)，
Eastern cities, miles about,	在陽(yáng)光下，向周圍幾十里延伸，
Are with mosque and minaret	城里裝飾著清真寺和塔尖，
Among sandy gardens set,	寺塔的四周是沙蓋的花園，
And the rich goods from near and far	琳瑯的雜貨，來(lái)自四方，
Hang for sale in the bazaar;----	招徐顧客，懸掛在市場(chǎng);——
Where the Great Wall round China goes,	去那兒：長(zhǎng)城環(huán)抱著中國(guó)，
And on one side the desert blows,	在它的一邊，是風(fēng)沙，荒漠，
And with bell and voice and drum,	另一邊，是城市，一片嘈雜，
Cities on the other hum; -----	鐘聲、鼓聲和人聲喧嘩;——
Where are forests, hot as fire,	去那兒：火焰般炎熱的森林，
Wide as England, tall as a spire,	寬闊如英格蘭，高聳如尖塔頂，
Full of apes and cocoa-nuts	那兒到處是椰子果，大猿猴，
And the negro hunters' huts; ----	茅屋里住著黑人好獵手;——
Where the knotty crocodile	去那兒：看鱷魚披一身鱗甲，
Lies and blinks in the Nile.	躺在尼羅河里，兩眼眨巴。
And the red flamingo flies	還有那紅色的火烈鳥，它一見
Hunting fish before his eyes; ----	水里的魚兒，就啄到嘴邊;——
Where in jungles, near and far,	去那兒：原始的林莽草萊，
Man-devouring tigers are,	吃人的老虎們?cè)谶h(yuǎn)近徘徊，
Lying close and giving ear	挨著身子躺，豎著耳朵聽，
Lest the hunt be drawing near,	就怕獵人越來(lái)越挨近，
Or a comer-by be seen	就怕有人到林子里來(lái)，
Swinging in a palanquin; ----	坐在轎子里，一搖又一擺;——
Where among the desert sands	去那兒：在一片荒涼的沙地，
Some deserted city stands,	直立著一座古城的殘跡，
All its children, sweep and prince,	城里所有的王子和窮娃娃
Grown to manhood ages since,	多少個(gè)世紀(jì)前就已經(jīng)長(zhǎng)大，
Not a foot in street or house,	沒有人走動(dòng)在屋里，在街道，

Light a fire in the gloom	去那兒，在幽暗塵封的飯廳，
Of some dusty dining-room.;	點(diǎn)燃起火炬，給周圍照明;
See the pictures on the walls,	從墻上掛著的多少幅畫圖，
Heroes, fights and festivals;	看英雄，戰(zhàn)斗，節(jié)日的歡愉;
And in a corner find the toys.	我最后還發(fā)現(xiàn)，在一角墻隅，
Of the old Egyptian boys.	古埃及兒童的一堆玩具。
