3 THE ECHOING GREEN	三蕩著回聲的草地

The Sun does arise,	太陽(yáng)升起，
And make happy the skies;	滿天歡喜;
The merry bells ring	快樂(lè)的鐘聲敲響，
To welcome the Spring;	迎接春光;
The skylark and thrush,	云雀和畫(huà)眉，
The birds of the bush,	林中的鳥(niǎo)類，
Sing louder around	圍著快樂(lè)的鐘響
To the bells' cheerful sound,	唱得更加嘹亮，
While our sports shall be seen	這時(shí)候我們游戲
On the echoing Green.	在蕩著回聲的草地。
Old John, with white hair,	老約翰，白發(fā)滿頭，
Does laugh away care,	笑著趕走了憂愁，
Sitting under the oak	坐在橡樹(shù)下面
Among the old folk.	老人們中間。
They laugh at our play,	他們笑看我們玩耍，
And soon they all say:	他們都這樣說(shuō)話：
"Such, such were the joys	"當(dāng)我們還是男孩女孩，
When we all, girls and boys,	歡度童年時(shí)代，
In our youth-time were seen	我們也這樣游戲
On the echoing Green.	在蕩著回聲的草地。"
Till the little ones, weary,	孩子們乏了，
No more can be merry;	再不能玩耍了;太陽(yáng)落山，
The Sun does descend,	我們停止了游玩。
And our sports have an end.	多少小妹妹小弟弟
Round the laps of their mothers	繞著媽媽的雙膝，
Many sisters and brothers,	像小鳥(niǎo)歸巢，
Like birds in their nest,	準(zhǔn)備睡覺(jué)。
Are ready for rest,	再不見(jiàn)孩子們游戲
And sport no more seen	在越來(lái)越暗的草地。
