637　stick to，insist on，persist in和hold on

① stick to常表示兩種意思：①“堅(jiān)持，堅(jiān)守”某種觀點(diǎn)、主張、理想、真理、協(xié)議等，后跟名詞；②“堅(jiān)持做某事”，后跟動(dòng)名詞。

He always sticks to his own decision. 他總是堅(jiān)持自己的決定。

She sticks to the principles in this matter. 她在這件事情上堅(jiān)持原則。

He sticks to his ideal. 他忠實(shí)于自己的理想。

She sticks to speaking English every day. 她堅(jiān)持每天說英語。

② insist on用于下面兩種情況：①“堅(jiān)持”某種意見、看法、權(quán)利等，后跟名詞；②“堅(jiān)持要，堅(jiān)持認(rèn)為，堅(jiān)決主張”做某事，后跟動(dòng)名詞。

He insisted on buying a car. 他堅(jiān)持要買一部車。

They insist on carrying out the experiment. 他們堅(jiān)決主張進(jìn)行這項(xiàng)實(shí)驗(yàn)。

He insisted on his complete innocence. 他堅(jiān)決認(rèn)為自己完全無罪。

She insisted on his going. 她堅(jiān)持要求他去。

He insisted on leaving at once. 他堅(jiān)持立即動(dòng)身。

She insisted that he was wrong. 她堅(jiān)持說/強(qiáng)調(diào)他錯(cuò)了。（insist作“堅(jiān)持說，強(qiáng)調(diào)”解時(shí)，后面的從句用直陳語氣）

She insisted that he （should）pay the money. 她要求/堅(jiān)持要他付錢。（insist作“要求，主張，堅(jiān)持”解時(shí)相當(dāng)于order，后面的從句用虛擬語氣）

③ persist in常指不顧困難“堅(jiān)持”做某事，或不聽勸告“堅(jiān)持”做某事，后多跟動(dòng)名詞，也可跟名詞。

He persisted in doing the work in spite of the difficulties. 他不顧困難堅(jiān)持做那項(xiàng)工作。

If you persist in such foolish behaviour，you will be in trouble. 如果你堅(jiān)持這種愚蠢的行為，你會(huì)遇到麻煩的。

She persisted in doing it that way. 她堅(jiān)持要那樣做。

④ hold on意為“堅(jiān)持下去”，強(qiáng)調(diào)不顧困難，繼續(xù)堅(jiān)持下去，為不及物短語動(dòng)詞，后不可加賓語。

They decided to hold on until help came. 他們決定堅(jiān)持到援助到來。

Hold on and everything will be all right. 堅(jiān)持下去，一切都會(huì)好起來的。

提示

stick out表示“伸出，使……突出”，stick it out表示“堅(jiān)持到底”。

Don't stick your head out of the window. 勿把頭伸出窗外。

Maths is hard，but if you stick it out you will learn it well. 數(shù)學(xué)是難學(xué)的，但是如果你堅(jiān)持到底，你會(huì)學(xué)好的。
