598　search，search for和in search of

① search是及物動(dòng)詞，后直接跟搜尋的對(duì)象，search sb. 意為“搜身”，search sth. 意為“在……中搜查”。

They searched the guard. 他們搜查那個(gè)士兵。

He searched the pocket for money. 他在衣袋中找錢。

The police searched every room in the house. 警察搜查了房子的每一個(gè)房間。

② search for意為“尋找”，如果表示搜查某一對(duì)象的目的是要找到什么，要用search for，強(qiáng)調(diào)搜尋某個(gè)特定的目標(biāo)。

He is searching for the lost ring. 他在尋找丟失的戒指。

She searched for him everywhere，but in vain. 她到處尋找他，但沒有找到。

They searched the room. 他們搜查這個(gè)房間。

They searched for the room. 他們尋找這個(gè)房間。

③ in search of是固定習(xí)語(yǔ)，通常作目的狀語(yǔ)，后接尋找的對(duì)象或目標(biāo)。

They started off at once in search of the missing child. 他們立即出發(fā)去尋找失蹤的小孩。

The hunter went in search of something to eat. 獵人去尋找一些東西吃。
