514　only doing sth.和only to do sth.

① only doing sth.放在句尾，表示方式、狀況或結(jié)果，only 表示強(qiáng)調(diào)。

She died，only leaving nothing but debts. 她死了，只留下一身債。

He started off in a hurry，only leaving a lot of work undone. 他匆忙走了，留下許多工作未做。

② only to do sth.放在句尾，作結(jié)果狀語，表示沒有預(yù)料的結(jié)果，有時(shí)含有某種感情色彩。

The thief ran into the wood only to be caught by a passerby. 小偷跑進(jìn)了樹林，想不到被一個(gè)過路人抓住了。

He went to see her only to find her out. 他去看她，不料發(fā)現(xiàn)她出去了。
