467　middle，centre和midst

① middle指“中間部分，中部”，但不一定是正中心。

Don't stand in the middle of the road. 不要站在路中間。

② centre指場所的正中心，中心點；常用于比喻中。

Here is just the centre of the city. 這兒正是城市的中心。

It is the commercial centre of the country. 它是這個國家的商業(yè)中心。

She is the centre of public admiration. 她受到人們的廣泛贊揚。

the centre of the town 城市的中心（點）

the middle of the town 城市的中部

③ midst指“在一個群體中（among）”或“在……過程中（what is taking place or being done）”。

He found her in the midst of a group of friends. 他在一群朋友中間發(fā)現(xiàn)了她。
