465　meet和meet with

① meet用作動詞時(shí)，意為“遇見，迎接，跟（人）結(jié)識，迎戰(zhàn)，應(yīng)付（困難、厄運(yùn)等）”，可作及物動詞或不及物動詞。

They often write，but seldom meet. 他們經(jīng)常通信，但很少見面。

I met an old friend in the street yesterday. 我昨天在街上遇見一位朋友。

He has gone to meet his father at the station. 他去火車站接他父親了。

I shall do my best to meet the difficulty. 我將盡最大努力應(yīng)對困難。

② meet with表示“無意/偶然遇到（meet by chance，come across），經(jīng)歷、遭遇（困難、麻煩、事故）”。在現(xiàn)代英語中，也可用meet表示“經(jīng)歷、遭遇（困難等）”。

I met with her in the bookstore. 我偶然在書店里碰到了她。

I met her in the bookstore. 我在書店里遇見了她。

She met with an accident in the street. 她在街上出了事故。
