322　habit，custom，customs和Customs

① habit指長時期逐漸養(yǎng)成的、一時不易改變的“個人的”習慣，如愛散步的習慣、飲茶的習慣等，結(jié)構(gòu)為：

form the habit of doing sth.

have the habit of doing sth.

fall into good/bad habits養(yǎng)成好/壞習慣

He has the habit of going for a walk after supper. 他有晚飯后散步的習慣。

The man has formed the habit of smoking.

那人養(yǎng)成了抽煙的習慣。

The man has formed the habit to smoke.

（habit后不可跟不定式）

② custom指某個“國家、社會、社會群體”經(jīng)過一個較長時間過程形成的風俗或習慣，結(jié)構(gòu)為：

It is one's custom to do sth.

It has become the custom for sb. to do sth.

It is their custom to eat dumplings on New Year's Day. 新年吃餃子是他們的風俗。

Japanese customs vary greatly from the Chinese. 日本人的風俗同中國的風俗大不相同。

③ 復數(shù)形式customs表示“關稅，進口稅”。

We have to pay customs on the camera equipment we bought abroad. 我們在國外買的照相設備須付關稅。

④ the Customs表示“海關”。

It took us only a few minutes to get through the Customs. 通過海關只花了我們幾分鐘。
