◎ room可以用作可數(shù)名詞和不可數(shù)名詞。
① room作“房間，室，寓所”解時(shí)，為可數(shù)名詞。
It is a large room. 那是一個(gè)大房間。
The house has seven rooms. 這幢房子有七個(gè)房間。
There is a double room upstairs. 樓上有一個(gè)雙人房間。
提示
room可以構(gòu)成多個(gè)復(fù)合詞，如：classroom（教室），sitting-room（起居室），bathroom（洗澡間），dining-room（飯廳）等。
② room作“空間，余地，空位”解時(shí)，表示抽象意義，為不可數(shù)名詞，可用much，a lot of修飾。
There's no room to move. 沒有活動(dòng)空間。
Is there room for me in the car？汽車?yán)镉形业淖粏幔?br /> The furniture takes up too much room. 家具占的地方太大。
Can you make room for another person？你能為另一人留下地方嗎？

③ 可表示具體意義和抽象意義的名詞還有：hospital，church，school，market，table，prison等。
Church begins at two in the afternoon. 下午兩點(diǎn)開始做禮拜。

She has gone to market. 她去買東西了。（=She has gone shopping.）
I used to drive past the market. 我以前常開車經(jīng)過那個(gè)市場(chǎng)。
There will be no school tomorrow. 明天不上課。
She left school in her teens. 她十幾歲就輟學(xué)了。
He went to the school to see the principle. 他去那所學(xué)校見校長(zhǎng)。
