Afghan officials say a suicide bomber blew himself up close to the entrance of the national directorate for security complex in the capital Kabul. Six people were killed. The area's been cordoned off by the security forces. The blast happened in the morning rush hour.

Police in the Philippines say 19 people have been killed when their small bus collided with an oncoming bus, near the town of Agoo, north of the capital Manila. More than 20 people were injured. Those killed were on their way to a dawn service in the famous our lady of the rosary church in the town of Manaoag.
