big of sb
That's big of you

Usage
This idiom is used in response to something someone does that is seen as generous, helpful, kind, etc. It can be used sincerely, but is also used sarcastically to mean the opposite, as in “How big of you to eat the last piece of pie.”
這個(gè)習(xí)語用來回應(yīng)某人做了他認(rèn)為慷慨、樂于助人、善良的事情。它可以真誠(chéng)地使用,但也可以諷刺地用來表示相反的意思,如在“How big of you to eat the last piece of pie”中。(這句話可能是在諷刺某人自私,只考慮自己,只剩最后一塊派的時(shí)候并沒有體貼地為他人留著,于是反諷地說你可真樂于助人啊!)

例句
“It was big of Richard to get Sam an interview at his company.”
理查德幫薩姆在他的公司安排了一次面試,真是太了不起了。
“Loaning me money to pay my rent was really big of you. I promise I will pay you back next week.”
你借錢也要幫我付房租真的很慷慨。我保證下周還你。
《吸血鬼日記》中Caroline撞見Tyler和Hayley,追問:

Tyler:Caroline, it's not like that.
卡羅琳,不是你想的那樣。
Caroline:I keep waiting for you to make up some dumb story so at least I can call you a liar. Is that now?
我一直等著你編出個(gè)像樣的故事,那樣我就可以叫你騙子。這就是你的故事?
Hayley:I'll let you two talk.
我出去讓你們好好聊吧。
Caroline:Thank you, how big of you!
謝謝你,你可真大度啊!

起源:
Big, in this idiom, refers to “a big thing to do,” meaning a generous and kind thing.
Big,在這個(gè)成語中,指的是做一件大度的事情,意思是慷慨和善良的事情。
You think big ≠ 你想大think big
“Think big”其實(shí)是個(gè)俚語,真正的意思是指:有抱負(fù);有志向。

例句
You're always thinking big and you deserve this success.
你一直都是個(gè)有抱負(fù)的人,你應(yīng)該獲得成功。
“Your head is too big”是什么意思?head is big
“Your head is too big”,如果按字面意思理解的話,就是“你的頭很大”。但其實(shí)這也是英國(guó)人愛說的俚語,意思是:你真自以為是。
例句
Who do you think you are? Your head is too big.
你以為你是誰?你也太自以為是了吧!
